2011 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

random thought, the 2011 class and the extremely limited number of scholarships left for Ohio State is the perfect example of why over signing is such a huge advantage for the SEC
Couple of thoughts

1-Oversigning certainly does give the SEC an advantage BUUUUUUUT

2-So many kids in every SEC class fail to qualify that oversigning is almost redundant-there is a reason that Auburn,Kentucky,LSU,Ole Miss, etc do this-and Vanderbilt does not!

3-The 2011 class in Ohio is so good that the Glenville kids are almost like throw-ins, and thi year give the appearance of holding up the bus, instead of being late in the game coups for the staff. I'm kind of surprised that they will apparently be taking 6 DL w/ the incusion of Sturdivant. Wynn might get the "Newsome Nudge" from the staff apparently-I think TG Sr. might be realizing that having his stars wait to commit to tOSU is not going to bring in more scouts from Eastern Michigan and Tennessee State for his lower profile kids.

2011 is a bad example. 2012 is the type of scholarship shortage that magically never happens to Bama.

No stx, it isn't redundant. Bama has been way over the limit for many years in a row, leading to transfers, non-scholarship renewals, etc. The occasional non qualifiers don't make up for his constant abuse of scholarship limits.

I just meant that Ohio State is almost certainly going to have to turn away a few elite players in 2011 that may have come to Ohio State otherwise if we had room for them. 2012 may be even worse, but I think 2011 plus 2012 is a nice running example.

So with the commit of Smith, do we stop recruiting Wynn as hard? And is Story out of the picture at WR? I know he's a hell of a talent. Our WR depth is just stocked for a while! Braxton's gonna have a plethora of weapons at his disposal!!!

I think we'll take both if they want to come here. I hope we take both, nothing like getting our QB serious weapons.

It certainly will be interesting to see if the staff decides to take 2 or 3 WR recruits. If they do wait on Wynn and one of the more talented guys says he wants to come, it will be very interesting to see what happens.

Do I have this correct.

1 scholarship left for 1 wide receiver out of:

Wynn
Story
Dorsett

First one to take it wins?

I thought Dorsett was out of the picture months ago. He seemed like he didn't want to leave the south, preferably staying in Florida. Has Story made any attempts to visit Cbus? It doesn't seem like he's been to any events on campus. Wynn is a toss up, IMO, since we got Smith know, it'd be nice to get him but won't really matter if we don't. From what I've been hearing he's just a KR/PR, but he'd provide some decent depth in the slot.
