With the Spring Game freshly put behind us, ThaRinger felt it was a good time to take another look at how the Buckeye Buzz is budding. It's not just nature that is starting to take form either as now the direction of programs per recruiting are growing with increasing clarity provided by new offers. We'll take a look at recruits we feel are seriously looking at OSU (whether offered or not). Others with OSU offers but seemingly no interest will not be included for the sake of being concise (even though we know you all would love nothing more than to read an OSU recruiting novella!).

Not trying to argue, I just honestly think it's more beneficial to your team if you have 2 talented QBs to push each other. We wouldn't have had Troy if we stopped at 1 highly ranked QB, I highly doubt anyone would want to see what would've happened to our program if Troy went elsewhere.

Chiles wasn't much help either, and it looks like they'll be turning to a green 2nd year QB just like after Vince. Booty wasn't exactly stellar either and many SC fans wondered if Sanchez would've done better had he won the starting job and developed sooner.

Anyway, one is enough this year... no knocks, but, as we mention transfers and all of those things, we might be in the position to take two had a guy not transferred last year and we had to take an extra. Its a double edged sword... and as much as I see Jones, I think Roethlisberger (the football part)... but... we have enough for now.

When TP leaves, we're going to have a green QB in our backfield as well, in the same exact position as Texas, UF and many other teams have been in. I just personally would like another kid thrown in the mix in competition. If a kid transfers, he transfers and we move on. I don't think many fans were crying when Schoenhoft or Henton transferred when TP signed. It was just business

The point is you can take all of the QBs you want, you'll likely endure some hardship when it comes time to replace a starter, whether you have 8 5-stars or none.
Colt took over in his 2nd year, Gilbert will do the same, as will Braxton (potentially). Terrelle should have done so had the OL made life easier for Todd.
Any coach would, but the 85 rule doesn't allow for that freedom. You have to weigh those needs very carefully.
The 2011 recruiting class only has 19 spots or so.
The 2012 recruiting class only has 15 spots.
Transfers and early declarations this year likely give the 2011 class 3 more spots and could cut into the 2012 total.
An extra QB in 2011 is purely a luxury and a gamble against the future scholarship needs.
2011 - Pryor, Bauserman, Guiton, Graham, Miller
2012 - Guiton, Graham, Miller, X
2013 - Guiton, Graham, Miller, X, Y
2014 - Graham, Miller, X, Y
2015 - Miller, X, Y, Z
If Cardale does not beat out Graham or Miller, he might not be in the 2 deep until his 5th year on campus. A QB in the 2012 class makes more sense, with a minimum of a 2 year separation (assuming Miller plays as a frosh, which is likely to get his feet wet).

If that's how you feel, you obviously just saw the stats in the paper the next morning and didn't actually watch the game. It took him a quarter or so to get settled in, but once he did he got the longhorns right back into the game, and almost regained the lead late in the game.

Sounds like a problem OSU would like to have.
USC had three guys fighting for the top job....were confronted with some injuries...and they picked the horse they wanted to ride on Saturdays. Not sure I see the problem....and USC's woes (if you want to call them that) can be chalked up to far more significant root causes than the results of their QB battle.
I can't imagine OSU would offer Cordale unless Braxton has given the staff information that makes them comfortable it doesn't put Brax's recuitment at risk one way or the other.
EDIT: That said....I don't think OSU *needs* two QBs in this class. Josh made that clear in his post.... BUT.. has anyone looked out a year or two with an eye on whether or not there is an OSU worthy QB in Ohio on the way up?
Maybe the staff is considering two now because the next class or two is void of local big time QBs?
