2011 tOSU Offense Discussion

Missed the game on TV working but 9 sacks are you sure..I wonder what other Div. I program gave up 9 sacks today..Fickell was dealt a weak hand with O situation he inherited ....but he hasn't made much of it either..It looks like all spring they expected Pryor back and were working as if Joe B would be caretaker in games 1-4 and not force feeding Miller or developing an O gameplan for him...

Dantonio says he was blitzing every play obviously none of our players were ready for it and I can't blame the oline because I actually think they are pretty good I feel its the coaches fault they didn't have a plan for these blitzes.

I just don't see our players being put in positions to succeed like I see other colleges do with their players.

Yeah, it was really frustrating today with a lot of the play calling. Seemingly no adjustments. No attempted screens against a constant onslaught of blitzing, no zone read options with Braxton, no slants, roll outs...nothing. Just the same thing over and over and over and over and over...with the same results.

Other than the series when the D gave up the TD they exceptional, played valiantly and never quit.

A lot of today's problem was coaching on the Offensive side of the ball....and there seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. At least with Tress you always knew he would right the ship. I don't have the feel right now with our current situation.

Bonjour, Messieurs Les Buckeyes!

My condolences on a difficult game ce jour. Mais, I must congratulate you on your "O-line" (I 'ave learned this "idiom" from one of your inebriated "fans" whom I met as 'e was losing 'is dejeuner au-dehors le "Club Varsite"). It remind me of our glorious French "Ligne Maginot" or "Maginot Line" which prove so impenetrable in our Great War of French Victory.

Or per'aps I misremember some details. No matter. Like le Grand Armee de France, les Buckeyes de futbol can anticipate many great victories, I feel certain!

You pass the ball to set up the draw. Bollman called more draw plays than the Buckeyes completed passes in this game. That is unacceptable.

You run the ball to set up the play-action pass. The Buckeyes either ran the ball over and over or ran play-action over and over. The non-existent mixing up of play calling didn't even try to keep the defense off balance or use one play to set up the other. That is unacceptable.

Running play action draw plays on third and long multiple times when the defense had been blitzing all game and the draws hadn't been working and weren't fooling anyone anyway is unacceptable.

Running pass patterns 15 to 20 yards down field that take time to develop with no short check down or crossing patterns all game when your QB didn't have time in the pocket all night is unacceptable.

Continuing to do all of these things throughout the entire game with no adjustments is especially unacceptable.

Waiting until Bauserman is in at QB to roll your QB out of the pocket for the first time is terrible.

Running play action primarily out of shotgun rather than I-formation and having no counter boots with Braxton is terrible.

Everyone thought Bollman was no good for most of the past decade. Without Tressel as a shield, Bollman looked like he wasn't competent enough to coordinate a high school offense, much less one of the premiere programs in college football.

Very sad and something that needs to be addressed or it will get this entire coaching staff fired, if it hasn't already.

I feel bad because Fickell was handcuffed with a short term contract and is completely incapable of making a move.
