2011 SEC Football Discussion

Jarrett Lee looked a lot more promising last night (9/10, 133, 1 TD) than he has in a long time.
yeah, it was only Northwestern St, but he has struggled against cupcakes before, so I look at it as an improvement.
His accuracy was not as good as the stats suggest, but was better than we've seen from him in the past. 1st play of the game was a deep sideline pass to Randle. RR was about 10 yds past the defense, but Lee threw it short and behind him, forcing him to stop and wait for the ball.
a 43 yd completion that set up a TD, but should have gone for an easy 6 on its own.

Mettenberger played the entire 2nd half. I like what I'm seeing from this guy already.
He hit guys in stride. something that hasn't happened often in Baton Rouge lately. He went 8/11 with a TD. One of his two incompletions went right through Rueben Randles hands. His TD pass to Boone was refreshing to see from a Tiger QB. 19 yd to the sideline in the endzone. Nearly a perfect pass.

Hard to take anything from a game against such an outmanned opponent, so I wanted to look mainly at the accuracy of the passes.
Lee still throws flat footed, and rushes some throws even though we were at home playing nobody.
Mett looks confident as hell. Maybe because he had a huge lead against Podunct State at home. But this being his 1st ever game action in D1 football gives me a lot of confidence in this kid for the future.

Barring injury, I doubt Mett replaces Lee as the starter this year due mainly to experience.
But I would not be shocked to see more and more of him as the season progresses.

It pains me to say it woof, but you guys looked good enough to beat Darth Visor, and I had them winning the East. I never thought the East rep was going to be a one SEC loss team - and I think that two and the tie break rules decide is a more likely story.

I say again, if Richt gets fired before the WLOCP, they may be so fired up that you kill us to send him on his way. Worked for Zook in 04 against the Noles at the Bobby Bowden Field dedication after he was fired.

Is it experience, or Les Miles loyalty to a Senior that might prevent Mettenberger from becoming the starter?

I just can't see it being experience. It's not like y'all run a complicated offense. It's pretty basic.

He's a vast improvement over Lee and precisely what the Tigers need for a Championship run this year.

I'll be shocked if he's not the starter, sooner rather than later.

combination of the two.
Miles gets a bad rap about playing upperclassmen.

don't know how that got started. we've plaey a LOT of young guys the entire time Miles has been here.

he's thrown a whopping 10 passes in his entire Div 1 career.
and all ten of them were against a 1aa school (and not a good one of them either).

kinda tough to proclaim anything definitive about him yet, but I do like what I've seen so far.

You gave up 5 points???

Well, I guess that's the best you could do. Nothing to be ashamed of, really.

We have only given up 3 points so far. I told you gators to relax because I be the BOSS. Wait until my defense shuts down UT next week. The offense will click. As a matter of fact I need to make sure that fat ass is putting together a systematic advantage super duper special offense. Ah shit, I got to go. Motherfucker just stole my banana split. CHARLIE!!!!
