2011 SEC Football Discussion

I wish the Dawgs had opened up with Snack Cake State and Twinkie A&M :(
I'm guessing Mississippi St feels the same way. We're one game into Week 3 and MSU is already 0-2 in the SEC West. Ouch.

That's gotta be deflating for the kids. I'm looking at the schedule and November is just brutal, having Alabama and Arkansas back-to-back, followed by the Egg Bowl.

Per Dr. Saturday's page. Records for all SEC teams against OOC opponents.

Below is what I learned from that link.

1. The $EC has won 80% or more of their games against CUSA, MAC, WAC, and Sun Belt teams from 2001-2010 (which is the timeframe used)

2. The PAC-10 and Big East had winning records against the $EC.

3. The teams from Mississippi were 7-17 against the ACC, Big East, B1G, Big XII, MWC, PAC-10, and WAC. They were 31-8 against CUSA and Sun Belt while not playing any MAC teams and going 50-110 in the $EC.

4. Arkansas and Vandy are the only $EC teams to not post a win against the B1G and Ole Miss did not play the B1G.

5. UK is the only team with a losing record (2-3) against CUSA but they love the MAC (6-1).

6. The MWC is "obviously" just as good as the $EC (5-5).

7. The PAC-10 does not like to play LSU (5-0) or Georgia (2-0) but loves the rest of the $EC (3-11).

8. The following six teams are .500 or better in $EC play: Florida .723, LSU .702, Auburn .683, Georgia .663, Alabama .598, & Tennessee .590.

9. The $EC loves to play at Home (216-46)) or "Neutral" (52-32)...BUT not so much Away (45-40). If you only use the conferences that have no teams in the $EC footprint during 2001-2010 they are Home 39-16, "Neutral" 34-18, and Away 8-15.

10. TSUN sucks!

the mississippi schools are pretty good at losing to non-mississippi schools.

Did you also learn that a team from the SEC has won the last 5 BCS Championship Games?

PART 2 in ESPN U's made for TV Documentaries on the SEC

Specifically detailing the move for the SEC to play a conference championship game and the logic/pushback behind it.

I forgot that the first iterations of the SECCG were played at old shitty Iron Bowl.
Can't wait!
