2011 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

This is more for laughs than anything else:

Lemming's Top 100 football list updated

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

That age-old philosophy was upheld by CBS Sports/MaxPreps football recruiting expert Tom Lemming, who Friday came out with his updated Top 100 list for the Class of 2011.

Indeed 22 new players were added to the elite group, but then again 25 remained the same.

The most impressive newcomer was Demetrius Hart, a 5-foot-8, 185-pound running back from Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.) who leaped all the way to the No. 45 spot.

Continued...

The biggest riser on the list was defensive back Doran Grant, a 5-11, 180-pound defensive back from St. Vincent-St. Mary (Akron, Ohio). The Ohio State-bound standout jumped 59 spots to No. 32 overall.

Football Recruiting: 2011 Top 100

Of note:

#8 Braxton Miller
#19 Curtis Grant
#32 Doran Grant
#65 Michael Bennett

#71 Darius Jennings

Actually not the worst rankings I've seen...except for the fact that he has every ND verbal higher than just about anyone else in the business.

College Team Recruiting Rankings

Of note:

#1 Notre Dame :slappy:

#7 Ohio State
#14 Illinois
#20 Wisconsin
#21 Michigan State
#25 Iowa

Throw out everything I've ever said about scouts being less biased than fans, when it comes to Lemming. He doesn't even pretend anymore.
Since when did Rivals, or Lemming, or any other rating but our own mean anything? It is nice when they rank us where we think our Bucks should be but they don't mean nothing.
They all survive on window dressing.

Someone needs to tell Lemming of the damage he is causing to the ND football program by overvaluing BK's recruiting class!
Lemming flat out is setting the bar too high, elevating expectations and in the process undermining Brian Kelly with those rankings.
When Domer fans discover that this class' performance is average at best they will begin to question who is to fault for the fail that is happening to the #1 ranked recruiting class of 2011, "Is BK really an upgrade over CW? Is the BK hype all that better than the decided schematic advantage?"

Sorry if posted elsewhere... very interesting article on Rivals' rankings... according to average class rankings versus winning percentage, VT has apparently done more than any other school with their talent, but tOSU (#1 winning record over the nine years examined) is #3 overall in +/- on working with their talent... what's pretty striking is Rivals is basically - perhaps without meaning to - pointing out their own recruiting ranking disparity that favors southern and california recruits and underrates midwestern and mid-atlantic talent...

Buckeyes lead Big Ten again but Cornhuskers are close behind - ESPN

Ohio State Buckeyes
Commits: 21 | ESPNU 150: 6

Overview: It's business as usual in Columbus, where Jim Tressel and his staff usually reel in a top 10 class that leads the conference. There's a little bit of everything in Ohio State's group from a big time quarterback prospect like Braxton Miller (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne), a shut down corner in Doran Grant (Akron, Ohio/St. Vincent-St. Mary) and plenty of great athletes. The only thing missing is the running back position.

Top prospect: The top Buckeye prospect is defensive end Steve Miller (Canton, Ohio/McKinley). This kid does it all. He can run the passer and defend the run. Miller has good size and will get much bigger and stronger. He's athletic and can run. Miller's physical and also plays with a high motor. He has a chance to be another dominant defender in Columbus.

Don't be surprised if: It's a big close for the Buckeyes. In state, they could potentially land three teammates from Cleveland Glenville in defensive end Andre Sturdivant, offensive lineman Aundrey Walker and quarterback Cardale Jones. Of course, all eyes on are ESPNU 150 linebacker Curtis Grant (Richmond, Va./Hermitage). Ohio State is a major player for his services.

Maybe ESPN should take a look at our depth chart...

Not entirely sure about the article, but I think they are looking at the 2011 class in a vacuum and with no regards to the team in its entirety. There are no RB's and the author notes that. Whether the team is lacking in RB's doesn't seem to be how the author was tackling the issue.

Thus he works for ESP!N...

This is one of the reasons why when VT has offered a defensive recruit you know they have alot of potential...Malcolm Jenkins is a prime example.
