2011 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

And when is ESPN going to see that Mike Bennett is a DT, not a OG at the next level?

I believe that the 4+ years of the Reggie Bush saga has shown everyone that when it comes to ESPN "seeing" things, they employ the Sgt. Schultz methodology.

Steve Miller (Tom Hauck)

Previous rank: 4
Athletic receiver Evan Spencer (Vernon Hills, Ill.) is a coveted playmaker who makes an already-deep class better and helps Ohio State sit in the top five of the class rankings. The Buckeyes have cleaned up in Ohio with No. 2-ranked quarterback Braxton Miller (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne), top-three DE Steve Miller (Canton, Ohio/McKinley) and four-star OG Michael Bennett (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville). Miller, an Under Armour All-American, fits the mold of a Troy Smith, but Miller is more explosive as a runner. He has a big arm and can make all the throws. Jim Tressel and his staff went outside the state as well, plucking two talented four-stars out of Florida: safety Jeremy Cash (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) and tight end Jeff Heuerman (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier).

Only Big10 team in the top 25...

#1 Jadeveon Clowney - 5 stars
#11 Braxton Miller - 5

#32 Steve Miller - 5
#42 Anthony Wallace - 5
#55 Michael Bennett - 4

#167 Ron Tanner - 4
#182 Devin Smith - 4
#246 DerJuan Gambrell - 4
#272 Aundrey Walker -4
#291 Jeremy Cash - 4

Devin Smith shot up the rankings...other than that not a lot of movement (who can argue Braxton Miller at #4 compared to #11...really doesn't matter, especially when he is still the #1 QB in the country)...Vannett dropped out but that could be because of a slight drop since he was already at #292. Walker is a new addition and Cash slipped a little, probably because he was hurt so much this year.

Free Scout - Top 25 Recruiting Rankings

No. 2 Ohio State (commitment list)
The Buckeyes' Class of 2011 is headlined by Scout's No. 1 quarterback Braxton Miller (6-2/190) of Huber Heights. Capable of running by most defenses, Miller has let his big arm do most of the talking this year as he's struggled with an ankle injury. Farther ahead as a passer than Terrelle Pryor, Miller should make a seamless transition into the Ohio State offense during the course of his career.

I don't typically care to bicker on the Rivals/Scout rankings as that argument is fruitless. However, I think guys like Tanner, Hale and Devin Smith seriously warrant re-ranking in Rivals after the final season's worth of films comes to these websites' attention.

Obviously, Rivals is partial to Southern/Texas regional prospects. Is there a website/link out there that anyone has found that exhibits a correlation between the national team recruiting rankings and actual on field production? I don't generally care for if 5* recruits do better than 3*, that seems to show up as statistically true.

Teams like Iowa and Wisconsin are often top-25 teams with infrequent top-25 talent. Same probably goes for the rise of the new-age Stanford (although they are top-15 recruiting now).

I'm a bit curious if there are regions/programs/coaches that consistently out-perform recruiting rankings and those that under-perform as well.
