2011 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

Steve Miller at #242

With Traylor and Coyne above him. Again, Rivals is a joke. No offense to Coyne or Traylor, they are good players, but almost nobody in Ohio would rank Miller below them. Really I could go on and on with the list but it's not worth it.

What are the top 10 classes in the nation so far?

...
4. Ohio State

Headliners
- QB Braxton Miller
- DE Steve Miller
- OC Brian Bobek
- S Jeremy Cash
- DT Michael Bennett
- DE Chase Farris

They've hit Ohio hard and hand picked much of their class to this point in-state all while still going out of state and getting great additions like Bobek, Cash, and Evan Spencer. You can probably add Ron Tanner and Nick Vannett to this heralded class in the coming weeks as well.

College Football Class Rankings 2011 - ESPN
Movers And Shakers

As teams prepare for the 2010 season, the work never stops off the field, as coaches work to secure their 2011 recruiting classes. The summer was a heavy commitment period, and classes are starting to take shape.

Texas still has the top recruiting class in our latest rankings update, with Alabama, Oklahoma, Ohio State and LSU rounding out the top five. But the ACC featured three of the top movers. North Carolina jumped 11 spots to No. 11 thanks in large part to coach Butch Davis' emphasis on recruiting the offensive line. Clemson also rose considerably after adding two of the country's biggest offensive playmakers. Also, Virginia and coach Mike London hit the recruiting trail hard, and it paid off: The Cavaliers enter the Top 25 at No. 18.

Again, remember that things can and will change often, and this is just one step on the long road to national signing day on Feb. 2, 2011. There will be twists, turns and unexpected changes. But that's what makes this fun, right?

1. Texas
2. Alabama
3. Oklahoma
4. Ohio State
5. LSU

College Football Class Rankings 2011 - ESPN

Previous rank: 5
Athletic receiver Evan Spencer (Vernon Hills, Ill.) is a coveted playmaker who makes an already deep class better and helps OSU move up a spot since our last rankings update. The Buckeyes have cleaned up in Ohio with No. 2-ranked quarterback Braxton Miller (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne), top-five DE Steve Miller (Canton, Ohio/McKinley) and four-star OG Michael Bennett (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville). Miller, an Under Armour All-American, fits the mold of a Troy Smith, but Miller is more explosive as a runner. He has a big arm and can make all the throws. Jim Tressel and his staff went outside the state as well, plucking two talented four-stars out of Florida: safety Jeremy Cash (Plantation, Fla./Plantation) and tight end Jeff Heuerman (Naples, Fla./Barron Collier).

Rivals.com Football Recruiting - Rivals250 has 15 new names (free)

Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com Ranking - Rivals.com Rivals250 2011 (free)

Of note:

#112 Anthony Wallace (4-star)
#126 Aundrey Walker (4)
#152 Dondi Kirby (4)
#170 Jabari Gorman (4)
#175 Darius Jennings (4)
#176 Nick Vannett (4)
#189 Chase Farris (4)
#200 Anthony Chickillo (4)
#214 Austin Traylor (4)
#226 Kevin McReynolds (4)
#231 Brian Bobek (4)
#248 Steve Miller (4)

Wow did they miss the boat on Miller. Is there a big difference in talent between #150 and #250? Not likely. But is there a difference between #33 (where Scout has him) and #248? I think there is. No Ron Tanner surprises me as well.

ladky over at rivals insists tanner is too small and slow to be ranked any higher than he is. that site's midwest and especially ohio rankings are laughable. the 3* john simon approves this message.

Having Austin Taylor ahead of Miller is a crime. No way around that. Rivals seems like they rely on nothing but camps/combines. If you don't camp Rivals is gonna drop you. Thats they way it is. Rivals ranking will always be trash anyways. They have one guy (Ladky) who covers the midwest, while Scout has three. And few hit it as hard as BG and Allen.

Another problem I have is, how do have Driskel rated so highly but Braxton in the bottom half. Oh yeah, I forgot. He went to camps.
