Ohio's QB Crop Not Just Limited To Big Names

There's plenty going on this time of year in regards to high school football recruiting. Spring ball is wrapping up, college coaches are allowed to contact high school juniors, and they are all hitting the road with offers in hand for some of the best players in Ohio.

I want to take a look at some quarterback prospects in Ohio who are flying under the radar to this point. Seven quarterbacks in Ohio already hold a Division I offer to this point: Braxton Miller (Huber Heights Wayne), Cardale Jones (Cleveland Glenville), Marcus Graham (Trotwood Madison), Cole Stoudt (Dublin Coffman), Patrick Coyne (Hamilton Badin -- Verbal to Cincinnati), Connor Cook (Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit -- Verbal to Michigan State), Evan Shimensky (Kent Roosevelt -- Verbal to Kent State).

Newest Big 10 offer extended...this time to a player who already had an offer from Indiana. Wisconsin has offered Dunbar WR Roger Williamson. Williamson also has offers from Toledo, Ball State, NC State, Bowling Green, Ohio University, Iowa State, Akron, Buffalo, Stanford, Boston College, Kent State, Syracuse, Kansas, Maryland, and Memphis.

Sycamore DB Darius Hillary has added offers from Stanford and Boston College.

OLB Nicholas Grigsby of Trotwood Madison has added an offer from Syracuse.

Toledo Central Catholic OL Kyle Cameron has added an offer from Western Michigan.

WVU and Colorado have offered St. Ed's Deonte Gibson.

Ball State has offered Watterson's Hunter Maynard.

Trotwood's Nicholas Grigsby has added an offer from Kansas.

Louisville has also offered Colerain's Chris Dukes and Sycamore's Justin Murray.

Centerville's Tristin Boykin has been offered by Buffalo.

Sycamore junior DB-WR Darius Hillary (5-10, 180) has added offers from Minnesota and Marshall, according to Sycamore coach Scott Dattilo.

Hillary also has offers from Kent State, Stanford, Boston College, Miami University, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana.

Colerain junior cornerback Chris Dukes (5-10, 165) has added an offer from Marshall, according to Colerain coach Tom Bolden.

Withrow junior DT Brandon Mitchell (6-2, 300) recently added offers from Kent State and Bowling Green, according to Withrow coach Doc Gamble.

Mitchell also has offers from Akron, Western Michigan, Ball State, Western Kentucky and Ohio.

Gamble said Mitchell is also receiving serious interest from UC, Iowa, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Boston College, North Carolina State, Kentucky, Michigan and Colorado.

Walnut Hills TE adds another offer

Walnut Hills junior TE Benson Browne (6-6, 237) was offered by West Virginia today, according to Walnut Hills coach George Kontsis.

Browne also has offers from Kansas, Louisville, Minnesota, Miami University and Central Michigan.

Kontsis said Browne has plans to soon take unofficial visits this summer to schools that include (no particular order) Michigan State, Michigan, UC, Ohio State and Duke.

Lakota West senior-to-be OL Ryan Kelly (6-5, 285) to visit Florida on Monday/Tuesday and Florida State on Wednesday/Thursday, according to Lakota West coach Larry Cox.

La Salle senior-to-be QB Drew Kummer (6-3, 205) has added an offer from Kent State, according to La Salle coach Tom Grippa.

Kummer also has offers from Marshall, Miami University and Kent State.

St. Xavier senior-to-be linebacker Sean Duggan recently visited Michigan and is expected to take upcoming visits to Wisconsin, Michigan State and UCLA, according to St. X coach Steve Specht. Duggan has at least 16 offers, including UC, Boston College, Michigan, Oregon, Arizona, Michigan State, West Virginia, Louisville, Illinois and several others. "I think he'll schedule 4-5 official visits and commit after the season," Specht said. "At least that's where he is right now."

Yep, my contact fell asleep on me and I got the call today. He had a few other offers but really liked Indiana. Reported 4.37 forty at BGSU camp. Indiana got an absolute steal here, he has a huge ceiling at DB and is explosive with the ball in his hands, definitely could play WR or RB. I wouldn't be surprised to see his offer list grow over his senior year, but reportedly the verbal is solid.
