2011-2012 Men's Buckeye Basketball (Final Four Season)

Maybe it's just me, but I think this thread should be permanently on the front page . I am pumped for this basketball season and I am looking forward to watching Matta and the team steamroll through the Big Ten. I hope this team gets the support and recognition it deserves.

It's funny how things work. With the football struggles this year combined at exactly the same time as the basketball program consistently flexing its muscle, you never know what could happen.

This could be the perfect scenario for OSU basketball to really gain equal footing of fan support somewhere in the same stratosphere as compared to football. It'll never be a "basketball school" but at least maybe we can begin filling up the Schott for every game!

You seem to suggest that only when the football team sucks will we have better basketball attendance. That logic is lost on me.

His logic may not be off at all.........

Fact - We don't sell out every game. (embarrassing)
Fact - We are a Top5 basketball program in the country (maybe that's opinion)
Fact - If borderline fans lose interest in football because they havn't figured out the forward pass, they will show up to watch a winner at the Schott.
Fact - OSU has 3 players on the preseason Wooden Award watch.
Fact - '11-'12 Basketball team is the most talented from top to bottom that OSU has ever suited up.
Fact - OSU currently has the favorite for B1G-POY and a top candidate for N-POY
Fact - OSU Hoops ~ Trending Up
Fact - OSU Football ~ Trending Down

Fact - I can't effin wait for jump-ball in 5 weeks, 2 days

Calling these facts seems... naive.

I would argue that the borderline fans who lose interest in football are the type who wouldn't care about basketball at all, and that those people would actually decrease their basketball attendance as well.

And the 1960 team with 2 of the 50 greatest players of all time is still the most talented team in tOSU history, and it will take a lot for that not to be true.

"fact 3" is not remotely close to a fact, and much of the above excitement was true in other seasons, well after football was over.

neither is the talent post. OSU had incredible talent in 06. Heck, they even had a lot of talent on their way to the NIT a year later. that is just from this regime.

for whatever reason, OSU basketball simply doesn't get much support when it isn't a primetime game.

I'm a very naive person.

Listen, to suggest the 1960,61,62 team had anywhere near the same amount of talent as this team does from top to bottom is ridiculous. Seems like a fact to me, but maybe, maybe, it's an opinion.

If you aren't familiar with this season's roster, you might want to check it out. There's no Bobby Knights on this roster.
