2010 TSUN News offseason (football)

Isn't it being lost in all this that someone at Michigan screwed Dorsey over? If he qualified then surely some school out there would have admitted him, right? And maybe one still will, maybe even scUM, but for the school as a whole to lead him on like he's part of the class if he qualifies, then he qualifies, then they turn him away, sounds pretty shitty to me. They could have told him a long time ago that he should look elsewhere and he'd prob have more options. Maybe he still had a chance to meet admission standards and recently failed to do so, thus the late notice?

You think RichRod cares about admissions? He don't need no stinkin' admissions.

There's a reason Florida and some other southern schools stopped recruiting Dorsey, or slow played him. RichRod probably saw an opportunity to land himself a stud player/questionable person and brought out the old "I can pull some strings" line.

It wouldn't be the first player to get denied admission to Michigan, the only difference is the 5 stars behind his name on the recruiting sites.

This just in from the 'throw stuff against the wall and see what sticks" department:

Doug Karsch (radio) is reporting that Florida State said "no" to Dorsey (as far as whether they are a fallback option).

After the Cooper years I'm not ready yet to cry for scUM. Besides, eventually the new AD will straighten the athletic department out.
In the mean time time I'll enjoy crushing them and hearing the lamentation of their....err.......fans!

For accuracy's sake, e!spn's hilarious recruiting site is the only one to give him 5* and it was clearly because of his early interest from the south and the fact he was playing in their all star game. Scout/Rivals were a little more realistic...a very good 4* recruit with raw potential. Not the world beater, #14 overall prospect e!spn joke.

The threads on the UM boards (Scout, MGoBlog, etc.) regarding Dorsey are really entertaining to read.

You have 4 different factions on these boards:

The "Admissions Dept IS THE DEBIL!!!!!!" crowd. Not to be confused with the "Leave RR Alone!!!" crowd (defined later). These are the posters who essential say the same thing in every single one of their posts: "There are definitely people in the Admin area trying to sabotage RR. Demar cleared the NCAA, WE SHOULD LET HIM IN!. Now, there is a caveat to why these posters are different than the "Leave RR Alone" crowd, and that is that these posters mostly are for the team, and not just RR. They are mainly PO'd that Dorsey apparently worked hard and cleared the NCAA, and now UM admissions is waffling on actually admitting him. The biggest problem with this crowd is that they seem to look past the fact the kid was allegedly involved in 3 B&Es and one with a deadly weapon. They seem to forget another recruit that had a checkered past that was admitted who nearly had a dorm burned down because of his illegal activities on campus.

The "Old Guard: UM has a higher standard" crowd. These are the posters who go after the above crowd non-stop saying that if UM stoops to the level of, say, WVU of admitting anyone just because they can play a game diminishes the quality of the school as a whole on a national perspective. Basically, these are the posters who want to see UM back in the thick of things, but not getting there by lowering the standards of what has been traditional Michigan Football. (Also, these are the posters who have grown weary of the undue attention that UM has received since RR stepped on campus.) Most of these guys are called "Haters" because they are somewhat negative toward the state of the program today.

The "Leave RR Alone!!!" crowd. These are the posters who literally slurp any sweat that happens to fall from Richy's balls and love the salty taste. RR has never, EVER done ANYTHING wrong, and in fact he personally checked out every single detail of Dema'rs life from the time he was born until yesterday at around 4:30ish and he already had the blessing of the entire university (i think even dim-witted parking attendant had to be asked) before RR even considered picking up the phone to recruit Dorsey. This situation is all because of the Freep and the Haters! Haters! Haters! Haters! (you know, those who don't want to hold the rope or want to be all in.)

The "Fans of Other Teams" crowd. These are mainly OSU and MSU posters, and surprisingly there are very few inflammatory posts from these posters. Mostly, they are siding with with the Old Guard above, and actually expressing a bit of sympathy toward UM and what they are going through. (there are a few who were blatantly assholes, but you will get that on any message board.)

Makes me wonder if the recent Domino's ad campaign was just a dry run for Brandon's planned 2011 renovation of tSUN's image.

On a related note, ten member schools of the Big Ten Conference have initiated a lawsuit against the University of M*ch*g*n, claiming that the UofM's ongoing characterization of its football program as "The Winningest Program of All Time" constitutes puffery*.

*Puffery: Exaggerated statement based on Ancient History. Not Contemporary Fact.
