2010 TSUN News offseason (football)

What is sad is that 75% of the Michigan fans that post on rivals and scout actually believe Rich has done little to nothing wrong during his tenure and that everybody is out to get him. Which brings me to the Ncaa Investigation, People don't want to talk about the fact that there were quality control guys coaching during spring practice and the fact that there is a horn-blower that breaks practices down to the minute that the coaches completely ignored. Fact is if i am not mistaken this is HIS program everything that happens whether good or bad falls on his head. Let Rich succeed or fail on his own merit, the excuse making for Rich is beyond comprehension at least to me...sorry for the rant guys.
Exactly.

Being that I'm a Buckeye fan, I rather enjoy the misery that is the state of the Michigan program at the moment, I'm not gonna sugar coat that reality. But, that said, Ohio State - Michigan wasn't built on one of the programs being in disarray, it was built on epic programs being epic.

I missed this article while I was on vacation. This is a bombshell, and isn't the only place I've heard this, merely the only one to put it in print.

GBMW: Go Blue Michigan Wolverine: Mailbag question: Demar Dorsey status

Short version:

It was a message to RR, not to screw him but to make it clear that this parade of questionable qualifiers is not going to fly.

It was a message from the AD, not unnamed faction members in the admissions department.

I wonder if the new AD has enough experience with CFB to know what happened to ND's football fortunes when they got a tad too strict with the admissions? Not that I think you should consider bringing in Dorsey specifically, but in general that becomes the logical reaction when a coach like RR starts bringing in too many at risk kids.

We are taking 25 out of the 27 kids in this class, most expected up to at least 4 to not make it in. Since the RR tenure began he has had a total of 3 guys not qualify (not counting Witherspoon) I would say the AD office is being more than generous and still is when making accomdations for questionable kids. There is a reason that FSU is not going to take Dorsey either.

Yeah, If you guys want to get non-bias info about Michigan I would recommend checking out Eroc's blog the dude does a damn good job.

The AD's view is that all athletes have to be able to survive at Michigan in a real academic program. Surviving at Michigan holds the underlying assumption that the university indeed entails a higher standard than merely qualifying as defined by the NCAA.

How is this a new concept?

Everyone is acting like they're shocked to find out that it's possible to not get admitted to a school. There are hundreds of kids per day that probably get denied admission to Michigan and Ohio State. It's always been a little bit easier for an athlete to gain admission than a nobody off the street. It's clear that RichRod thinks if they pass on the field, they pass in the classroom...that, or he doesn't care.

I wonder how many times RichRod has to be reminded he's not at West Virginia anymore. Maybe this is a new concept to RichRod, who knows. The new AD should hang a banner in his office. "You are not at West Virginia" because he clearly can't remember that.

he's trying his hardest to transform Michigan into West Virginia in terms of football talent and admission standards, bless his little heart, he really is a moron

My point was that I don't see RR ever doing anything but taking as many risky kids as he can get his hands on and that may well lead to the AD's office having to over react and tighten admissions too far.

Just a general observation more than anything. I don't think RR will be around long enough to make it a big issue.

Isn't it being lost in all this that someone at Michigan screwed Dorsey over? If he qualified then surely some school out there would have admitted him, right? And maybe one still will, maybe even scUM, but for the school as a whole to lead him on like he's part of the class if he qualifies, then he qualifies, then they turn him away, sounds pretty shitty to me. They could have told him a long time ago that he should look elsewhere and he'd prob have more options. Maybe he still had a chance to meet admission standards and recently failed to do so, thus the late notice?
