2010 TSUN News offseason (football)

So, Woolfolk equals 5 wins Mike? I believe you were in the 7 win camp pre-injury. That seems like a lot of productivity out of an average player.

I guess "couple" was the wrong choice if you're going to take it literally. I was in the 7-8 win camp. Now I would say hitting 6 will be remarkable.

It's not that TW was Charles Woodson out there, but he gave us some semblance of leadership and experience.

I suppose if Christian lives up to his hype and something "clicks" with Floyd, 7 wins is still possible. It's just with no depth, these guys will be sucking wind by the end of the game. Bawis' chocolate milk or not.

I will officially back off my 12-0 prediction

Alot of people were very high on Woolfolk. Some in the know have said he might be the best player in our program right now... oh well.

And let's not forget the other shoe.

Teams get better when they are tested in practice.

Those magnificent QBs that UM has will be throwing into what kind of D? Do they even have a second team D to field in practice?

Yes. Problem is, they consider it their "first team" D...

I just want to put it in perspective before people jump all over these Woolfolk comments. People were high on Woolfolk after he switched to CB against Iowa and held up decently there, and figured he'd be pretty servicable as a starter. As the year progressed, and in the Wisconsin game especially, Donovan Warren actually was thrown at a bit more times then Woolfolk which surprised me. That, coupled with the spring practices and the leadership exuded from Woolfolk had people excited he could make the jump to becoming a more quality CB. HOWEVER, we are not talking Ty Law, Leon Hall, or Marlin Jackson status, more like an average #1 starter. He'd hold his own, get beat a couple times, but overall do a nice job.

So from a Buckeye points of view I can see why some would doubt his abilities and how hyped up he was by some fans. But let's just say it's like taking a "B+" or "B" away from a cornerback group that only has "C's", "C-'s", and "Inc." remaining at the current time. (This is not based on talent, this is based on pure readiness as of TODAY)

congrats, dick rod, on loading your team with wide receivers, running backs, safeties, near-commitments who can barely read, and commitments who end up hating m*ch*gan.

and yet there are soooooo many fans (see: scout board) who think rowdy roddy is just the victim of the pro-carr/anti-dick internal crowd. i apologize to our good skunkbear posters, but these really are the golden years of buckeye football. soak it in... soak it alllllll in. harbaugh will need the paddles to bring this moribund program back to life.

No doubt, I was just questioning how Woolfolk getting injured would mean 5 less wins. I won't take the chicken little act so literally next time. :)

Fwiw, MGOblog is now saying the story with Woolfolk is a dislocated ankle, and likely out for the year.
september 4th can't get here fast enough. a loss to uconn at the big house will send the fanbase into a sharper spiral. if m*ch*gan loses to uconn and then notre dame, it will be an awesomely ugly season.

never has it taken me more than five minutes to find a depth chart of a major football program, yet after fifteen minutes of searching, i still haven't found any legit depth chart from official or fan based sites for this year's michigan team. i guess that's all you need to know.

And some of them are still blaming admissions for the Demar Dorsey fiasco.

He hasn't even reported to Louisville yet has he?

If he can't get into fucking Louisville then he would have no business even setting foot on the UM campus.

Sorry, but the news was never this bad under Coop was it? I don't ever remember feeling utter despair. Maybe the years have softened those times for me.

Thoughts with Troy Woolfolk for a speedy recovery. Sucks for the young man.
