I just had to tell this quick story and conversation with a new colleague and as I found out, Michigan alum. My team was participating in a conference call and I initially thought that it was just my three guys and perhaps two or three on the other end of the line. Well this call involved a WebEx (so we could view the presentation) and the password given to access was ?goblue.? Somebody at my table asked how they came up with the password. The conversation then followed these lines?.
Presenter: The password is for the school I attended ?MICHIGAN??..
I shouldn?t have done this but I couldn?t help myself...
Me: ?Losers!?
Presenter: ?The University of Michigan is the all-time leader in wins in college football.?
Me: ?Yes, you are correct, if you add in the ?90?s. (Pause)?The 1890?s that is and the rest of the games you played then and during the turn of the century while you were beating up on (a thanks to Dr. Gee here) the ?Little sisters of the poor.?
After that comment (Little sisters) he should have figured out he was talking to an OSU fan or alum. Not this guy.
Presenter: ?You call us losers what school do you hail from??
Me: ?The school that beat your ass last Saturday and all but once this decade.?
There was no reply, only laughter from my room, and more from others on the phone. Then I hear my boss?s boss (who I didn?t know was on the phone) and is an Illinois alumni state?.?looks like Ohio State?s debate team can mop the floor with Michigan?s as well??.
Needless to say I HAD A GOOD TIME the rest of the call?

I was at the game. Honestly, it just feels like we're going to show up, kick the [censored] out of them and then party. I know it's a rivalry. I want it to be a fierce rivalry but it's so one-sided right now that the atmosphere at The Game is more of a celebration on one side than anything else. Don't get me wrong. It's a lot of fun to be there but I sure don't have that knot in the pit of my stomach when I wake up on the day of The Game like it used to.

I don't care if it's competitive or not.

If they win next year, even though it'd be their first win in eight seasons, they'll be insufferable jackwagons like they were every fucking day of the 1990s. We'll have 500 new registrations over here posting 58-44-6 in every single thread.

Fuck 'em. I hope they never win again. Don't ever forget what their fans were like for 13 straight years.

So, WM, does that mean that fans of any other team that's better than 6-18 (conference) and 15-21 (overall) over the past 3 years can bash Michigan with your blessing?

Or is it just limited to fans of any team that's finished higher than tied for 7th in their conference at least once in the past 3 years?

Rich Rodriguez Speech - Full Audio

The speech is a lot more organized & coherent than I expected, given his adventurous press conferences, but he really sunk an otherwise decent speech with the ending song (which isn't in the clip).

Quoting the song would have been a fine ending. A little cheesy for those familiar with Groban's genre, but inspirational quotes, poems & songs can be moving if used properly.

Staged hand-holding to mom music at a football banquet is always going to be a disaster.
