I am not sure how knowing our defense is going to get rolled makes it any more acceptable when it happens.

Is anybody surprised by this? I certainly hope not.

actually ... we dont know that, not with the new-style-U ... because, as RR says, they are just getting going on O ... next year will be even better

It's watching the Oregon-Stanford game that has me thinking along these lines -- it's all-O being played there too
FranchiseUofM wrote: Tom - - - this is the part of the debate that doesn't make sense to me.

Of course everybody would be happy winning every game no matter what the score is. But we've all watched enough football to know that the likelihood of that happening is essentially zero if we play D like this.

Again, I love Coach Rod, and I love the offense. I haven't had this much fun watching UofM football in a long long time (and I've been watching for a LONG time). But I'm disappointed we're not playing better D. We are absolutely capable of doing GREAT things with this offense playing at a higher level than anybody thought possible at this point. But I'm frustrated that the D might be too much in the way.

Watching Stanford-Oregon, the question comes into my mind...

The first punt of that game finally happened with 4 minutes left in the half ... 28-24 with more perhaps to come before half.

(yes I'm flipping back and forth with PSU/Iowa -- but I go to sleep when that game is on ... what a snoozer the old-B10 stuff seems like now ...)

Anyway, the question pops into my mind... would you be happy with U-M winning 8 more games this year by last second 42-35 scores? Somehow, based on the correspondence I've been getting ... I think not.

It's just amazing to me that U-M is 5-0 for just the 3rd time in the 13 years since the NC ...and some people are acting like they haven't won yet this year.

Funny thing I heard on ESPN tonight. May was going on about how great Denard is and Holtz says; "Imagine how good he is in practice against Michigan's defense"'
They've essentially been facing the equivalent each week...

IU and BGSU are deplorable defenses, NoD isn't much better, Umass is FCS and Uconn lost both starting DE and was replacing chunks of their secondary. They haven't faced anything resembling a solid defense yet.

Even though it has to go through an interpreter, Lou Holtz says some funny shit!

On ESPN2 last night, Robert Smith was talking about how much fun it is to watch Denard; however, there's going to be a time soon when the defense is a liability and the Wolverines lose.

The Michigan defense practices those gaps and missed assignments so Denard can make them look good on Saturday. Yep, that's it. They met there match playing an equally bad IU defense! :osu:

Is it fun to watch a team run the same 3 plays over and over? I never thought it was fun to watch Pat White do it, either.......it's more annoying than anything else.

I enjoyed watching White and Slaton play against tough opponents.. you could really see how good they were.

But at this point, I've hated watching Michigan. Denard is electrifying, has yet to prove if he's a great player like White and Slaton. Wouldn't surprise me at all if he is, but we'll find out soon.

Shootouts are boring. There's no fun in watching two teams drive down the field at will, unless it's because someone is playing out of his mind... like Peyton Manning routinely does.

it annoys me when lesser teams attempt to equal the playing field against superior teams using their gimmicky bullshit. it annoys me even more when it works. hopefully, if michigan ever plays a team that doesn't have it's head up it's ass, it won't.
