2010 TSUN arguments & shenanigans (in-season)

Here's a Jim Tressel story for you: I used to work with a woman whose grandson was a good-but-not-great high school football player (he's now a preferred walk-on at Toledo).

Well, depending on what year he's in school at Toledo, this "good-but-not-great" player...may have also beaten Michigan.

Let's take a moment to canoe down this muddy stream of semiconsciousness. Wear your rubber boots and industrial-strength rain garb.
This is made-up class for football players!

Um, okay, no, it's for getting non-players to spy on local high schools!

I refuse to look up Woody's class content, and thus they are proven bull!

Football players are getting credit for easy questions!

No wait, it isn't for players because Tressel is so slick and manipulative!

I know nothing about Vietnam, so here is my take on it!

I have no knowledge of NCAA violations, so take that as proof they exist!

OMGWTFBBQTERRORISTS!

Tressel "manages" things. We all know what that means!

Clearly someone else does all the work preparing this class and tells Tressel what to say. I know this based on my solid grasp on ignorance regarding a class that I've already had to admit was not an easy out for football players as was the point of this entire diatribe.
[insert post about Bo's classes]

I call bullshit
Without further details/evidence. Sorry.
Certified JEENYUS, oh yes he is.

There are some reasonable folks on that page. The original poster is not one of them.
Clearly, Tressel should drop the teaching gig and do a few hot tub commercials instead....

Yeah, there are rational Michigan fans. Like those who actually attended the school for one. Also those who just aren't dumbasses.
Stadium & Main used to be the best scout board around. The downswing in results and vocal minority have run a lot of them off or at least made them give up on posting much.

No, that isn't elite enough. When half of your 4 star recruits are slots that are smaller than 6 feet, it isn't scaring anybody or building an elite team. Again, it's not going to happen with an elite class of recruits.

Take a look at your last two years of recruits, and look at who their other big offers were. It isn't very flattering. While you'll bring in several bigger names per class, the overall class isn't where you would expect an elite program, and it never will be under Rodriguez.

Not when players want to go to the league.

Really?

It hasn't seemed to affect Florida at all, who signs 5* after 5* to play in a ZONE READ offense and who sent more players to the NFL in this past draft than any other team, including a center named Maurkice Pouncey who just so happened to go in the 1st round and is now starting for the Pittsburgh Steelers as a rookie.

And please. Our 4* recruits in these classes haven't been "half-slot midgets", that's a ridiculous statement.

The only 4* slot WR's from those classes that are 5'9/5'10-ish were Terrence Robinson and Jeremy Gallon. That's it.

Michigan will get it's fair share of elite recruits as long as they are actually winning and competing for B10 titles.

Going 8-16, talk and negativing surrounding Rich and his job security, and looming NCAA sanctions have hampered recruiting. Not the type of scheme Rich runs.

What happened to Odoms, Teric & Dileo? Smith was also in that ballpark, and Kelvin was added in a different way.

Because florida goes out and makes their own success in recruiting, they don't wait until their own failures are no longer holding them back (which is dangerously close to a potentially endless loop) before they start landing elite classes.

Florida won't land another Brantley after how that's worked out. They'll be fine with other players though.

You can land elite recruits in any scheme, but there are going to be challenges for certain QBs, I-form RBs & Braylon-type WRs if the offense doesn't suit them. It seems to finally be adjusting for the latter, the former two are probably not going to change.

The scheme absolutely hampers WR & QB recruiting. It doesn't prevent it however, and there will always be plenty of athletes and interested parties to find recruits, OL as well.

Russell Perrilloux & Braxton Miller do not want to play for Michigan, but guys like Russell Sheppard & Denard Robinson will.

Flankers and split ends aren't that attracted to an offense overly focused on bubble screens, decoy routes for Stonum & most passes to the slots and backs. That playcalling held back national recruiting as much as the results did.

It also helps that UF is a garden spot in comparison to ann arbor. Like it or not, location often plays a factor. Even when UF was struggling under Zook, they were still landing top notch recruiting classes. Also, you can say you might land elite offensive players all you want, doesn't change the fact that your defense is in the shitter and is a long way from being bailed out. Where's the help on that side of the ball?

Oh boy another 5'9 midget for OSU to smack around...

It's like christmas every time you guys get a recruit who you think is good...

Smack him around just like we'll smack around Dreadlaces

Hart has offers from Bama, Auburn, Miami (FL), Michigan, Tennessee, Notre Dame, Florida State, Georgia, Clemson, Arkansas, and I believe OSU.....

eh average list.

Not saying he will be amazing in college, but it seems to me he is doing alright at the moment.

Yep. Fudgepackerblue, son of hormel, and wetdream71 (the self proclaimed TROLL KILLA!!11!!) have ruined what used to be good discussion over there. They like to circle jerk on the bust of RR while tossing each others salad anymore. Mostly go there now to laugh at the nonsense instead of looking for actual UM football tidbits.

tOSU has not recruited him. Also, not saying he ends up the same, but a few years ago there was a RB from Florida being recruited by everyone. Everyone said he was an athletic freak and would be a stud in college, even if he was a little undersized. Turned down all the southern schools to come north. Who was he? Maurice Wells. Just pointing out that hype does not always equal results.

Not just location helps UF. Like it or not, it is one hell of a school. Also, the women are MUCH prettier in Gainsville than they are in AA. Hot chicks
& tee-shirt winters vs. Butterfaces & freezing your nuts off. Hmmmmm. Rough choice. :wink2:

Yeah sometimes players don't live up to the hype. However, coming out of high school if a player has a nice offer list and is rated high in most recruiting services....then he is considered good at the moment. Just because he is coming to Michigan doesn't mean he is horrible. They can land a good player here and there you know. I haven't seen anybody hype him up on this board.

Also another thing. Don't really care if people hate on RR or not, but there is something that does give me a chuckle.

I love the people that say RR needs to recruit better and stop settling for nobodies....then once Michigan lands a good high school player they change their reaction to, "why would he go to Michigan? they are horrible." I saw this a lot with Stokes.
