New NCAA recruiting rule. Amazingly enough its aimed at an SEC school.

I vote for USC, daU, FSU and Oregon to join the SEC in the coming wave of conference realignments. That way we can just get them all in one conference and be done with it.

Alabama working on football schedule options | TideSports.com

Small scheduling notes pertaining to the National Champs.

1. Georgia Tech requested to be dropped from their commitment to a home and home series with the Tide.

2. They want to return to Atlanta to play a non-conference opponent in the Chick-fil-a classic, but are more interested in a Neutral Site game at the new Cowboy Stadium.

3. Randomly - they play home and home against Michigan State starting in 2016?

SBD: Spring game attendance for BCS conference schools - SportsBusiness Daily - College Football - Sporting News

Not an SEC! SEC! SEC! type post - but a collection of Spring Game attendance numbers for the past 3 years. Not even really that SEC related - but posted here since it was easiest.

Not surprisingly, teams in the Big 10, SEC and Bit 12 lead the pack. I had no idea Nebraska generated that type of enthusiasm for their spring games. Must not be too much going on in the Plains.

That table is interesting. One thing I'd like to see added is some kind of notation of which schools (such as Ohio State) charge admission for the spring game and which schools (such as Alabama and, I think, Wisconsin) let people in for free.

No way that list is accurate. Miami wasn't even listed.

You mean to tell me a school with a fan base like Da U doesn't turn out big crowds? That's crazy talk.

I am BigWoof's total lack of animosity towards "The U"

Sorry Jax - We never play them so I don't really pay attention until they past the 10 wins threshold.

Enlighten me (and I am too lazy to click on the link), why do two teams in the same conference need to work out a contract extension? television rights or something?

jwin's right.

It's all because it's continually played on a neutral field. It's a HUGE weekend for Jacksonville from a tourism standpoint and the programs negotiate a payment outside of ticket sales to make sure it's still lurcrative for both teams to play the game there.

It is a gigantic party at a neutral site with big time revenue for the town. They pay for that boost to the economy

ah yes, the Jacksonville reference should have given it away I suppose

correct me if I am wrong, but Florida vs Georgia is one of the premiere rivalries in the SEC correct? I would be absolutely livid if any of OSU's rivalry games were moved to a neutral site

I am not old school by any means (I am excited about the possibilities of Big Ten expansion, for instance) but the levels that college football is going to to make money is pretty startling

edit: on second thought, has the Florida Georgia game always been at a neutral site?
