Interesting read, and I'd imagine similar numbers would be found at numerous big-time college football and basketball schools.

I'd like to see a similar study for tOSU and TSUN before I start casting aspersions.

As much as I'd like to loosen up the old throwing shoulder and start casting, a study that finds the student athlete pool on the whole has lower standardized test scores than the general student population isn't really what I'd call shocking news.

That doesn't mean their players aren't all ignorant rednecks and thugs, just that I'd expect them to have lower test scores than the other rednecks and thugs at the school. :wink2:

By far the most impressive thing about that list is that more than half the conference has more than 5 first rounders in the last decade. I'm so certain they're the only conference that can say that; I'm not even going to bother looking it up.

Les doesn't want the SEC to expand.

Translation - "In the unlikely event that RichRod wins 8 games this season, or if Harbaugh didn't completely burn his bridges, and I'm not in Ann Arbor anytime soon, I don't want to have to play Bama, Texas, and Auburn every year just to get to the SEC Championship Game."

SEC coaches discuss expansion

"I think most of college football is looking for a format like we have, to allow for a championship game that allows them to ... play for postseason honors," Miles said. "It will be interesting. I think it's always a difficult thing to expand and make the schedule fair. Hopefully it won't happen quickly in this league."

Cont'd ...

New NCAA recruiting rule. Amazingly enough its aimed at an SEC school.

I vote for USC, daU, FSU and Oregon to join the SEC in the coming wave of conference realignments. That way we can just get them all in one conference and be done with it.
