UGA reports nine secondary violations | UGA sports blog

Dawg Atheletic Department reported itself for 9 rules violations yesterday.

I'll also credit them with good timing. That story gets lost in the landscape of USC getting whacked and all the conference expansion talk. :wink2:

Those are all minor violations, although if I were the AD, I'd be unhappy about the baseball team exceeding the player limit for the year - that should definitely be monitored closely.

Good for them. That's the sign of a good program, in my opinion. Finding something as minute as an overpayment of $.05 per mile shows that the compliance department is doing it's job. Kudos to UGA for keeping tabs on what's going on.

Agreed. Perfection is impossible IMHO. The signs of an honestly run program:

  1. Self Reporting (not waiting for the freep to report)
  2. Occasional academic ineligibility (Dexter Manley was never academically ineligible at OkSU, but couldn't read the diploma they gave him)

In College Football Supremacy, "IT" is Not Always About the Money - Red Cup Rebellion
You're thinking "Of course it's about money. It's always about money.
What's wrong with you?" Well, yes. Obviously, the conference realignment
situation we're now facing is about money. That's not my point.

The SEC isn't the most attractive girl at the dance every year because the
league makes more money than the others. The league makes more money
because it's the most attractive girl at the dance. It's not the most attractive
girl at the dance because the league has won more BCS Championships than
any other conference. It's won more BCS Championships because it's the most
attractive girl at the dance.

The SEC is the most attractive girl at the dance because it has "IT".

lots of girls have "it" at the dance, having "it" doesn't mean you won't get hepatitis C when you take them home from the dance

trailer trash girl that wears a short skirt at the dance, has gotten a lot of action in high school, and will be britney spears in three years vs. library hot girl that is going to law school and will be bringing home six figures in three years... I don't think the analogy of girl at the dance works very well for the SEC if you actually get into it
