Game Thread 2010 Rose Bowl: Ohio State 26 Oregon 17 (Final, 1/01/2010)

Even if Ohio St. holds the ball for 30 minutes, does not mean that Oregon can not score 40. Stanford held the ball for 27 minutes and Oregon still scored 42 points. Oregon's offense scores so quickly it does not matter how long the other team posses the ball.

Stanford average points allowed: 26.2; Ohio State APA: 12.2.

Basically what you did GoDucks, is went on an Ohio State forum, told all the Ohio State fans that their team is going to lose by 3 touchdowns, said that the shitty defense and tackling in the Civil War was a result of it being a rivalry game, and told us that your offense is going to Edward-Norton-curb-stomp us because they did it to Stanford, a team that gave up 1600 more yards and 170 more points.

Take that stupid shit back to Scout.

I know most Ohio st. fans think they are a much better team than Stanford. Sorry, but i think that the PAC 10 is much better than the Big 10 this year.

I heard the same thing from Michigan fans in 07. I believe that Oregon is a much better team than Ohio St.

I know that most Oregon fans think they are a much better team than Ohio State. Sorry, but I think that the Big 10 plays defense much better than the Pac 10 this year.

You still haven't answered the question I asked about how many times you'd seen us play this year. You haven't seen us play once, have you? I can tell from the way you're just dismissing our team, much like OSU fans did with Florida in 07 (myself included).

I'm not talking about Stanford as a team. I'm talking about them defensively. There is no way that they are better defensively. They just aren't. Stop trying to make it sound like we're saying things that we're not. You used the logic that since you scored 40+ on Stanford, a team without a defensive pulse, that you're going to put up the same on us just because the Pac 10 is better than the Big 10 and we're in the Big 10. That doesn't make a bit of sense. Just make a strong case for your team. The one you're using now just makes you look arrogant and ignorant.

That is seriously what you guys that are predicting 300 yards rushing are saying. Oregon's defense is on the same level as NMS.

Nah. NMS gave up 31.6 ppg, compared to UO's 23.6 ppg. So, UO's defense should be about one possession better than NMS. I couldn't find any numbers on how fast Prairie View A&M is able to score. That could be a big factor.

Look at the offenses Stanford has faced vs the offenses Ohio st. has faced Stanford beat USC 55-21.

The Pac 10 is not 160 yards and 14 points a game better. Not at all. Someone before me said it best, take this 12 year old logic back to Scout. There you'll have a lot more people "lol"ing and "yeah dey sux"ing with you.

I am not sure how good OSUs defense is? Lets look at the offenses they have played.

Wisconsin 21 32.8
Toledo 41 29.7
Penn St. 41 29.7
Michigan 45 29.5
Navy 53 28.3
Purdue 56 27.8
USC 64 26.7
Illinois 82 24.2
Indiana 84 23.5
Iowa 86 23.1
Minnesota 98 21.6
New Mexico State 120 11.5

AVG. 25.7 points. I have a hard time believing that OSU is the toughest defense Oregon has faced. Personally I think the PAC 10 is a much better conference than the Big 10 this year.

Oregon 7 37.7. OSU has not faced an offense as good as Oregon's and OSU has not played a spread offense like Oregon's. No one in CFB has an offense like Oregon's.

I am sure you all watched Chip Kelly's offense when Oregon destroyed Michigan in 07. Oregon put up the most yards ever at the Big House 624 yards. OSU ended up scoring 14 points in 07 vs Michigan. Point being, Chip Kelly is an amazing coach and has three weeks to prepare for OSU. I will be surprised is OSU can hold Oregon to under 40 points.

I think the biggest factor is that OSU has never played an offense like Oregon's. Most of you watched the Oregon State game and did you see how confused the Oregon state offense looked? That is how all defenses look vs Chip's offense. I thought Oregon state did pretty well vs the zone read compared to Oregon's other opponents. I am seeing a lot of OSU fans making assumptions about Oregon based solely on the Civil War. Be careful becasue it is a rivalry game. No matter how good either team is it is always close.

GO DUCKS! 38 17

You do realize it's possible to make the same comparison for OSU's defense and the defenses Oregon has faced, right?

Average points allowed for Oregon's opposing defenses: 24.3
OSU defense: 12.17

So basically all you're saying is that the Oregon offense scores 12 more ppg than the average offense OSU has faced and the OSU defense allows 12 less ppg than the average defense Oregon has faced.

I can say without hesitation that this is going to be the best defense you guys will have faced this year. Better than anyone in the Pac 10, better than Boise State's. This is a sure-tackling, fast, athletic defense that is hard to get yards against, is not easy to score against, and does not let "the big play" happen to them. The Unstoppable Force vs The Immovable Object. Should be a hell of a game.

The most points anyone has put up on us in a game this year is 27. If you think you can put up more than that, I welcome and encourage your thinking and i hope your team thinks that as well! From what I hear you're writers were saying the day after you guys clinched your Rose Bowl berth, I don't have much doubt you guys are buying it though.
Im not going to say we score in the 30's but this will be by far the fastest offense Ohio State has played this year and one of the fastest of recent.

OSU has a better rushing attack than Stanford? Stanford is 11th in rushing yards per game and Gerhart is #1 in total yards. Stanford has something that OSU does not have a QB that can throw the ball. I believe that Oregon will be able to put 8 men in the box vs OSU. Stanford held the ball for 37 minutes and Oregon still scored 42 points. Oregon St. has a much better passing game than OSU. Canfield is the best QB in the PAC 10.

well as someone already shown how we held all the top rushing teams to less than their season avg. the ducks actually helped Stanford and Toby.

Stanford season avg 224 vs the ducks 254 + 30yrds

Toby season avg 145 vs the ducks 223 + 78yrds

Look, you're basing all of your points on what Stanford did...and you LOST TO STANFORD.

CFB has shown over the transitive property does not work.

What have you seen about OSU in 2009 that leads you to believe that Oregon will score 40+ and win by 3 touchdowns?

That's what we're waiting for. And another thing, a good and honest fan will admit where their weaknesses lie. Quite honestly, you've done nothing here but troll. I will never understand why someone would go to another teams site, take the time to join, only to completely disregard what the people here are saying. It belittles both your intelligence, and is leaving a sour mark on your fanbase.
