- Does TP play error free and make good decisions on when to pass and when not to pass
- Does the OL come out with a fire in their sac and wear down the Oregon front 7.
- Does our backup kicker rise to the occasion
- Do we convert red zone visits to touchdowns or settle for field goals.
This is a really good post. My greatest fear as to how this game would play out is if we rely too much on our defense to stop Oregon in a close game and get burned because our offense fails to cash in on a short field opportunity.
A metric I am looking for in this game is total number of punts. Field position isn't nearly as important as how many chances do we give the Oregon offense with the ball. They don't care about TOP, just total possessions, because one way or another their possessions won't be long. They will have either scored, turned it over or punted. If/when we have those long 7 minute drives, they need to end in TDs. Too many punts or more than 1 or 2 field goal tries and we're probably in trouble. Simply chewing up the clock then sending out the D isn't enough. The offense has to be effective, opportunistic and efficient, and that means a sound, controlled game from Mr. Pryor.
