2010 polls - Pre-season and regular

Posey might actually be an elite wide-out with 1st round potential. Beanie Wells and Robiskie left 2 years ago... so its not exactly news or very important to the 2010 season. I don't think anyone will call Brian Rolle 'hulking', but he is of course a menace. And I also think that we do indeed have a prolific *group* of running backs to "shake" some of the pressure off of Pryor...

I think that as time goes on you will get better as the beat writer for the Buckeyes, but I just don't think this article is a good gauge to the pre-season 2010 Buckeyes.

CFN's preseason ranking - they stress that it's based on how good teams are, rather than an expectation of where they'll finish.

2. tOSU
3. Gawja (Woof!)
4. Florida
5. Oklahoma
6. Wisconsin
7. TCU
8. Boise St

How in the fuck can Oklahoma be the 5th best team in the country when they were 8-5 last year and lost three of the top four players drafted in the NFL?

Hasn't Coach Stoops lost in his last three trips to the BCS title game? Didn't his teams get beat by Boise State and WV in BCS games as well?

I am miffed as well. There seems to be general consensus among media types that Bob Stoops is some kind of coaching god. Where is this coming from?

Coach Tressel doesn't get this kind of respect and his program is more successful on every level. And, Coach Tressel is not a whiner.

Oklahoma underachieves on the national level in big games more than any other program in the country. I believe they have the worst BCS Bowl record of any program that has played in at least 5 BCS games yet no one in the media criticizes them for it. Bob Stoops is still regarded as a coaching genius even though his teams routinely underachieve. It boggles my mind.

Oklahoma, under Stoops, has scored scads of points. Whether or not they're any good is an independent issue. Unfortunately, most of the mouth-breathers in the media see points and assume that means a team is 'good', whatever that means.

Oklahoma is 2-5 in BCS games, but Florida State is 1-5.

There is certainly some truth in your statement. Stoops ran up the score on B12 opponents the season before the last to impress voters and ultimately steal a spot in the BCS title game (only to get embarassed).

However, there seem to be many counterexamples (coaches who can put up tons of points and the media doesn't worship them). Incidentally, Stoops seemed to win his NC with defense.

Bob Stoops continues to get a free pass and there is no rational explanation. Maybe he gives BJs to reporters at press conferences.
