Great title match. Cal outscored opponents 157-7 to get to the final but needed a try after time expired to tie Utah at 26.

Going to OT!

EDIT: Utah wins it, 31-26. First time Cal has lost in over a year.

Glad Utah won it. One of Cal's throws went forward as they drove to their final score after the clock ran out, but it wasn't called.

Great picture. Ebner=beard

As someone who has never watched Rugby (15s or 7s) before, I have to say that Im a fan now. How does the USA look compared with the rest of the world? Are we going to be able to defend our Rugby gold from 1924? Will Ebner or anyother Bucks sniff the USA 7s team?

Nate will definitely be in the mix for Rio in 2016 if he wants to be...the USA sevens coach, Al Caraveli, was in attendance this weekend and I'm told he's really interested in Nate when it comes to the national team. Nate was named to the All-Tournament team after his performance this weekend:

CCI 7s All Tournament Team

Anyone who watched the finals today got to see the future of rugby in this country...Utah's Thretton Palamo is the real deal.

The Daily Utah Chronicle - Palamo brings 'phenomenal' experience to rugby

The USA 15s team is currently ranked 18th in the world.

They are in Pool C in the 2011 World Cup along with Australia, Ireland, Italy and Russia.

Great final. Great tournament. Sorry the weather was so bad Saturday. Does Columbus have a multi-year deal to host, Wes?

Nothing more than a handshake...the tournament as a whole will be evaluated at a later date. We are hoping to see it back here next year but the turnout was awful...less than 3,000 fans saw the finals on Sunday. The weather wasn't an issue for more than an hour on Saturday...and we still played at 5:30 (the game people saw us play was live).
