NBC Columbus Sports Director Jerod Smalley, Mayor Coleman, Executive VP of NBC Sports Jon Miller, USA Sevens Director of Tournaments Dan Lyle and OSURFC's Tom Rooney were among those that spoke at the press conference that was held this morning at Crew Stadium. Here is the video that was shown, which is the same video that the IRB presented to the IOC when they were petitioning for Sevens to be included in the 2016 Olympic Games:

Come out and support YOUR Ohio State Buckeyes as they compete in the first ever Rugby Sevens Collegiate Championship Invitational, June 4-6 at Crew Stadium!

Here is the 2nd installment of NBC's "Rugby 101" featuring Tom Rooney...the local NBC affiliate is running a series of these leading up to the tournament.

Gotta admit "Sevens" is new to me. I saw the schedule and thought there had to be a mistake, scheduling matches 20 minutes apart. Seven minute halves and lots of space to run...should be interesting.

Yes, we played sevens over the summer after our senior year of highschool. I liked both the pace and running out in space.. that and winning helped make everything more fun.

It's hard to explain all the work these guys have put in over the last two months when it comes to strength training and fitness. There may be teams there as fit as we are but there won't be anyone fitter. And that's half the battle in sevens. We have our last set of scrimmages this weekend in Chicago...playing the Lions, the Griffins and Notre Dame. Then next week we are practicing on Wednesday with San Diego State and with Cal on Thursday. First game is at 7:50 PM on Friday night aginst Utah.

Great warm-up matches. No one else should be as well prepared.

Hate to disagree, Coach, but fitness is more than half the 7s battle. If you're really conditioned and refuse to get sucked into playing a 15s-style, you're there.

Steve19 will say that 7s is just a bastard sport like Arena football and he may be right. :) I've never had as much fun playing 15s, though. I can't stop playing, but 15s kinda sucks for 55-60 of an 80 minute match. There's no time for that with 7s and after every tournament I can barely move or walk and am completely exhausted and truly happy. With 15s, I'm usually just ready to hit the bar.

If you guys can, go out to the tournament and cheer for the Bucks.

Taking my little brother to introduce him to the game, is there a schedule of the matches somewhere?
