2010 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Why even talk about it right now? We haven't even hit the halfway point in the season. Way too much football to be played to have these discussions, IMO.

If we don't talk about it right now, we'll be the only ones not talking about it.

The Heisman talk starts before the season and ends in New York.

*yawn* Someone wake me up when DR or James finally face a defense and the games against Portland St., Bowling Green, New Mexico and UMass are over.

Ironically, Shoelace isn't putting up these video game numbers because he's playing shitty defenses -- he's putting up these video game numbers because his own team plays shitty defense, so he has to play four quarters of every game.

Regardless, many football players throughout the century-and-a-half history of the sport have faced suspect competition and not sniffed what Denard Robinson is doing.

That is why, to me, the award is watered down now. The "pre-ordained" get all the attention and those who really stand out during the actual season get over-looked because people have it set in their minds who should win before a snap ever occurs.

If that were the case, then Denard Robinson wouldn't be on the list, and Terrelle Pryor would have won it already, with Mark Ingram in 2nd place.

What pre-season Heisman lists had Denard Robinson and Kellen Moore one-two in the country?

wasn't stanford suppose to be a good defense?

No--they're currently ranked 84th in rushing defense. And that's out of only 120 teams.

James seems like the truth IMO. Bigger than last year, and he just trucks people. He's fun to watch

Eh, maybe I'm still underwhelmed by the Oregon offense because I saw them put up huge numbers all last year until they hit a brick wall in the Rose Bowl.

I don't think DR was on any, but Moore sure was on many lists. The DR for Heisman campaign started after one game played. Again, we aren't even halfway through the year, yet media types are all but giving DR the award already. The kid is no doubt a phenom, he has put up playstation-esque stats to date, but he has yet to face a decent to good defense. I will reserve judgement on DR until I see what he does in their next 3 games is all I am saying.

IMO, Suh should have won it last year. He was by far the best overall college football player. But, that is my opinion and nobody has to agree with me.

Not trying to bust your balls, because Denard should've never been out there in the 4th against UMass, but you do realize that Denard played literally about 6-7 mins of the 1st QTR against Bowling Green, right? Had he even played the first half he'd be over 1,000 and 1,000 and he'd likely have 1-2 more TD's than he has right now.

We're aware, and nobody gives a shit.

We will give a shit when he plays a team worthy of being in D-1.
