2010 Heisman Trophy Discussion

*yawn* Someone wake me up when DR or James finally face a defense and the games against Portland St., Bowling Green, New Mexico and UMass are over.

Stanford's D was ranked in the top 15 in most categories before Oregon.

No Ingram? Really?

He missed 2 games and ran for less than 50 vs. Florida. I wouldn't eliminate him but he hasn't done as much as those guys yet.

Not trying to bust your balls, because Denard should've never been out there in the 4th against UMass, but you do realize that Denard played literally about 6-7 mins of the 1st QTR against Bowling Green, right? Had he even played the first half he'd be over 1,000 and 1,000 and he'd likely have 1-2 more TD's than he has right now.
Yeah, against this murderers row:
Rush defense:
UConn- 77 rush / 31 pass
NoD- 68 rush / 96 pass
Umass- FCS; 41 rush / 28 pass
BGSU- 116 rush / 105 pass
Indiana- 108 rush / 47 pass

Like I've said, what denard has done has been remarkable, but we won't know who he really is for another couple of weeks. That is an incredible lineup of tomato cans to begin the season.

So the numbers lie? Um, okay. Who there is a legit D1 defense? Give me just one of the five. Just one (1). The fact that people bought in to some fairy tale uconn hype and thought they were a good team despite the obvious glaring issues before the season does not change the fact that they suck this year either. No matter how much you guys want it to. They would be a 2-6 team in the B10.

So because UM was not favored in one game and "on pregame upset alert in two others," you're concluding that those defenses must have been fantastic? Do you really subscribe to that kind of logic?

i think robinson could put up 600 all purpose yards against most teams in D-1...and i hate him

I'm not sure why you're quoting me.

All I was saying is that they haven't played a team with a pulse. If he keeps it up throughout the season and keeps playing this great against teams like OSU, he deserves the Heisman.

remember....silly bollocks.

all i'm saying is before the games people thought some of these teams were good enough competition, but as soon as they lost to Michigan, all of a sudden they were just overrated. That's all.

It's not because they lost to michigan why they're over-rated ... it's because they played like shit against everyone else too so far.

UConn - wins over Texas Southern(FCS), Buffalo(who's only 2 wins are over an FCS opponent and BG), and Vanderbilt(who has 1 win so far).

Notre Dame - wins over Boston College(who has 2 wins, one over an FCS school and a MAC school) and Purdue(yet again, one FCS and one MAC win).

UMass (FCS School)

Bowling Green - 1 win against Marshall(whose only win is against Ohio U)

Indiana - Wins against Towson(FCS), Western Kentucky (ranked, what #116?) and Akron

So, I guess what I'm trying to say, we're sorry for calling a spade a spade ... but defending your schedule will not score you any points with anyone who knows College Football anywhere in the world. Sorry.

When the computers tried to compute your strength of schedule we ended with a BSOD. Damn Windows and negative integers.

this conversation will be alot easier after next week obviously but as of now robinson is the clear cut, hands down, front runner for the heisman.../close thread

He's also the leading candidate to get carried off the field in a stretcher after any given play. DRob's already gotten banged up against the patsy portion of their schedule, now he's facing a six-part introduction to the world of real deal wood-layin Big Ten Defenses (omitting Purdue). ILL, MSU, and PSU may not be fielding their best teams of late, but should all have some quality players who can lay some hits. Iowa, UW, and OSU are elite defenses that will expose laces' supporting cast, and simply pummel him as he tries to win games by himself.

I wouldn't be surprised a bit if DRob is in street clothes for The Game.
