2010 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Yeah yeah, I remember it.

My lone counter argument would be that if they were undefeated at the end of the regular season, you'd be looking at a team that was 27-0 in its past 2 seasons. Fiesta Bowl champs and knocked off Oregon, VT, and TCU in the same period.

At some point they earn a shot.

Even with that hypothetical resume; I would be more impressed with a 1-loss SEC team.

The point is moot though. I doubt they get past VT. Teams rarely play their best when they travel all the way across the continent during the regular season; and I have my doubts about how they'd handle the Hokies on a good day.

2 weeks in, and of course it's necessary to rank Heisman contenders. :tongue2:

6 guys weigh in, and their points are 10-7-5-3-1, as opposed to the actual 3-2-1 on the Heisman ballots.

Mallet with three picks and a loss, Luck with two picks in a win.

Ingram with a huge day in a big win.

Obviously Pryor had a stupidly awesome game. I'd say he's at the top of the list, followed by Kellen Moore and Denard. Hopefully Denard's injury isn't serious, he's fun to watch and seems like a good kid. Ingram has to be up there too. He'll be top three at the end after Denard gets hurt from running 430 times a game.

I know it's early, but it seems like a lot went down in the Heisman race today.

If TP finishes second to Kellen Moore in Heisman voting after Moore knocked off what will be zero ranked teams (by season's end that is), I'm going to be [censored]ed.

Ultimately, regardless of the outcome of Heisman voting, I would have to believe that the paycheck in the NFL will be much larger for TP than Twiggy (Moore). But that's just my biased opinion.

If TP finishes second to any one, it will be one higher than I think he will finish. He is not showing me he is the best player in college football this year.

The question would be if it were down to Shoelaces and Ingram who would you pull for? A Shoelace win would keep Archie as the ONLY two time heisman trophy winner. Then again, how could you root for a Michigan player? These are trying times we live in.

TP has been great.

Hairlaces has arguably been CFB's MVP so far. I hate Michigan just like anyone else but you can't deny it at this point in time.

That said, eventually scUM will face a defense that can tackle and read keys and then we'll see how good he truly is....

I don't get why Ingram is in the discussion but he is....

Great is one thing (I don't think TP is great yet) and Heisman worthy is another.

Ingram is in the discussion because he is the reigning Heisman winner. I brought his name into this discussion because he would be one side of a worse case scenario for Ohio State fans.
