2010 Heisman Trophy Discussion

Lately the Heisman winner has been the best player of the best team. tOSU's best player is Pryor, and they are ranked #2 in the country. We'll see what happens.

Ingram only wins it if he is twice as amazing as last year, I am assuming the voters still aren't usually in favor of awarding the same player more than once.

While that is true, we've never seen a player putting up numbers like denard robinson is right now. If he keeps that up ( I have serious doubts), or even falls off only slightly, it'll be hard to not give it to him....see Tebow in '07.

D Rob's a good player, don't get me wrong, but just look at who Michigan has played:

Connecticut
Notre Dame
Massachusetts
Bowling Green
Indiana

None of which are ranked, let alone have a good defense. I'll be interested in seeing him against better defenses in the future. I'm thinking (and hoping) Sparty will give them a much harder time than the other teams that pile of shit up north has played.

That's why I qualified it. I still think he'll continue to put up big numbers the rest of the way (if he stays in one piece), I just don't think they'll be AS ridiculous and not enough to continue winning.

If Denard wins the Heisman; then it will just be one of many collegiate football players who won the award and then went on to do jack-[censored] in the pros.

Which is fine. Because one thing has nothing at all to do with the other.

(I know, you are just sayin' )

Yes it is perfectly fine. Though it's looking like Tebow might actually be good someday. McDaniels is crazy but he's cocky and he knows he can make him into a good QB. Denard is blowing everyone out right now; we'll see what happens over the next few weeks. A big test Saturday. I just feel like if he gets shut down a game or two and Michigan isn't a top team he won't win it. So the odds are currently still against him...

Pryor will also most likely slide down the list in the next few games unless he can pick these teams apart with his arm and we don't go full Tresselball mode. Too bad cause if that quad was healthy he'd be in it until the end. I guess we'll see how healthy the kid is. Like Terrelle always says, Go Bucks.

i don't think anyone expects Denard to be a great pro though. Not when you compare him to some of the past winners who went pro and busted.

I don't know about that. Use him like a Randel El or Joshua Cribbs. He could have a fine pro career...

He's also the leading candidate to get carried off the field in a stretcher after any given play.
See Dennis Dixon and Pat White.

I wouldn't be surprised a bit if DRob is in street clothes for The Game.
I have made that comment also to a guy here at work. This could be the trend for THE GAME. UM has to start the backup because the starter during the first half of the year is hurt. Talk about a feeding frenzy for the Ohio State defense.

IMO, it's just too early to think about who's in the lead for the heisman. Like many have said, DRob hasn't really played a team with a defense yet. So let's look at the next 3 games and see where he is then. But seriously, if he keeps up the pace he's on...no way he's not the heisman...the guy is on pace to become the NCAAs first 2000/2000 player. That would be unbelievable. And while Pryor may be the best player on the best team, his numbers will greatly pale in comparison especially once the Big Ten grind and Tresselball kick in.

So we wait and see...if DRob can maintain his pace and if he can manage to not get hurt. Two big ifs in my opinion.
