2010 Big Ten-ACC Challenge

Didn't see the MSU-Duke game, but looked at the box score and noticed that Duke shot 24 more free throws than Sparty. To anyone who saw this one, was this one well officiated? Or did Duke get the usual home-cooking?

@GaryParrishCBS - Coach K calls TO, furious. Ref asks him what he wants, a full or a 30? K's response: "I want a fucking call!"

4-2 is what the Big Ten HAD to be at by day's end today in order to have a shot at winning the Challenge tomorrow, because the matchups are not in the Big Ten's favor on Weds. Duke is almost certainly going to win. That's 4-3. Then you also have a bad PSU team playing (4-4). Big Ten will probably have to get two of Indiana, Purdue and Wisky to win in order to take the Challenge. Wisky can win, but can either of Purdue/Indiana? Hard to say.

Good job (pats self on back)

Don't really have a lot of faith in Nebraska helping the conference out in next year's Challenge (and beyond). Maybe they will.

At least it's 12 vs. 12 next year.

Actually, I hope and expect it will NOT 12 on 12 next year. First of all, they shouldn't schedule 12 games because there's a possible 6-6 tie as the overall outcome, and a tie would take away from one of the main reasons for having the event (which is to determine which conference is better). Secondly, their rule whereby the last-place ACC team sits out the Challenge the following season should be not only kept but extended to the Big Ten once Nebraska joins in order to have fewer of the worst teams in the Challenge. Adding Nebraska and subtracting the last place B10 team from this year (which is likely to be PSU) from the Challenge next year will make the Big Ten more competitive. Plus, there are already too many games, as not all of them make ESPN or ESPN2 - why add another game that likely is going to be on ESPNU? The only plausible alternative would be to make it a full 3 day event with four games on each of three days, but they won't have enough headliners to get a lot of people to tune in for three days.

Nebraska next year clearly is going to be stronger than what PSU will be - not only are they bad this year, but they have four senior starters (including a player who could finish as their all-time leading scorer) and they're STILL awful. PSU fans would be well-advised to not watch this season. Ed DeChellis should be fired after this season. PSU finished last in the Big Ten last season, and they have the toughest schedule this season, so I'm rooting for them to finish last in the B10 this season and for the organizers of the Challenge to keep them out of the Challenge next season, because as bad as they are this season, they are going to bottom out next season.

Dick Vitale just said he's sick of hearing Tom Izzo talk about Duke all the time.

WTF?!?!
I think you misunderstood. If it's the same part of the broadcast I remember, Vitale was talking about how Izzo talks about Duke to his team because Duke is the benchmark program that Izzo wants to be like. He then said Izzo's players are sick of hearing about Duke all the time.

Irving, Smith, and Plumlee accounted for 34 of the 38 free throws. All attack the basket like mad. So they will shoot a lot of FT's this year.

Thanks go to scUM (finally made themselves useful), Illinois, Wisconsin (your ass whuppin is coming), Purdue, Northwestern, and of course the Buckeyes.

Sparty had the toughest draw and didn't embarrass themselves or the conference. Good effort on their part. Indiana wasn't terrible but BC isn't looking so hot this year (see Yale). Iowa choked a big lead against a marginal team, but it was on the road and Iowa hasn't been so hot lately, either. Penn State looked like Penn State against a decent Maryland bunch, but the biggest gaffe of all goes to the Gophers. Who, after blowing a double digit home lead and allowing 58 second half points to fucking Virginia, should thank the six winning schools for getting them off the hook.

Still, a win is a win. :bigten2:

Douche is beatable. I cannot fucking stand Vitale...I shut the volume off. Irving went into the lane multiple times out of control and got calls...pathetic really. On a Nuetral court Sparty beats them last night.

Minnesota and Penn State didn't show up for their games. I have given both teams props but they looked like shit in the challenge. Penn State had 40 shot attempts to Marylands 16 in the first half and trailed by 6 at intermission... WTF!! They were ice cold. Minnesota blew a huge lead in the 2nd half.

Jimmy (I'm really a Dyke) Dykes ran his mouth on Tuesday saying the Big East is the best conference...Well shit genius they only have 3569707070 fucking teams in their conference. Guys we can't win for losing.

Does Duke ever not get home cooking? Imagine a team that gets the same treatment aggy received against corn aggy every time they take the court.

Nice rant Mr. Gilbert...

Maybe MSU's 20 TO's had a little something to do with their loss?
