2010 Big Ten-ACC Challenge

Those are thinly veiled arguments though and highly subjective. Duke doesn't ever get more calls than UNC, MSU, Kansas, UConn, OSU over the course of an entire season. To act like they and only they benefit from preferential treatment is silly.

The seeding is done by different people every year. To think there is an initiative to give Duke higher seeds and easier brackets is again silly. What about the years before this last one where Duke drew a #2 or other seed where the 2nd round match-ups were CLEARLY mismatches? WVU comes to mind... The year they lost to VCU most saw that coming. That was a tough VCU team that got a low seed at 11. Was that preferential?

Sometimes I don't think people think about their hate arguments against Duke and spit out the same old rhetoric (just like when people hate on Buckeye football)...

The problem is your acting like your coming up with some profound points...your not. We understand the seeding. The highest #1 gets the "easiest" region...not rocket science.

I think the problem your having is not everyone see's it your way. Whether you think your the Albert Einstein of Basketball on this board.

Become a Duke fan...I'm not...IMO when a team gets preferential treatment to the degree they do it hurts the sprot...I love CBB and OSU. I'm more pissed that they(the NCAA) hurt the game WHEN THEY ALLOW THIS...ITS BLATANT to alot of people see it and others not(you).

You can piss down some peoples back and tell them its raining I guess.

I don't get the name calling, just trying to have a discussion and relay my point... Sorry if that ticks you off.

Can you provide me with some evidence of these accusations though? Show me proof of preferential seeding? What about showing me figures compared to other schools on the foul calls? I'm interested. Otherwise, I don't think you know of what you speak.

Yes, I'm a Duke fan. I'm also a Dayton Flyers fan and an OSU fan. I root for OSU b-ball vs. everyone but Dayton and Duke. But I also like to believe I'm an unbiased sports fan. I'm sure when people spout this stuff about OSU football you're one of the first to run and defend and say it's nonsense. So what say we have some consistency in our arguments?

What about in the B-10 tourney when Matta wanted to go after UM fans? That wasn't embarrassing?

Here you go... After Turner hit the winner vs. UM last year (about the 1:15 mark):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQjYFXaRh5w
i appreciate the chuckle, 22. matta didn't want to "go after (the) um fans." he was shouting at and signaling to the scoring table that the shot should count.

Actually he wasn't... From someone on press row that day he was shouting in the direction of the UM bench at some fans that had been heckling him during the game and after UM's shot...

He had to be pulled back by the refs...

But I don't really have a problem with it... Was just curious if you were embarrassed by it since Coach K does that to you...

He was coaching and winning with emotion... I think that's the way coaches should be.

and i read and heard that he was taking issue with the possibility that the shot wouldn't count.

so you're a duke fan first and buckeye fan second? just curious. i could never be that guy.

oh, hey there, buckeyenation27. i see you lurking.

Buckeye fan only for football (no other teams need apply)... In basketball it's Dayton (alma mater), Duke, and OSU in order... That's because my house and family didn't follow college b-ball the same way as football, so I discovered my own path there :)...

I'd be embarrassed by Coach K's antics if I were a Duke fan ... none of those coaches should treat officials the way Coach K does, especially not as often as Coach K does. And it particularly irks me when I hear Dick Vitale (and others, but mostly Vitale) laud Coach K for being some kind of gentleman. He may be a great guy off the court, I have no idea, but his antics on the court take him squarely out of being a gentleman (or even a decent person) in my book.
When I see stuff like this from the Ohio State fan base - a fan base that (properly) idolizes Woody Hayes, whose sideline behavior was execrable - I have to question the self-awareness of those fans.

I'm never going to defend Coach K's overuse of F-bombs, nor defend abuse of officials (though I really question whether K treats officials particularly differently from most coaches). But the attitude of fans toward K, and toward Duke, baffles me - unless the reason is envy, in which case the reactions are understandable.

Self-disclosure: I'm an Ohio State fan, and I was rooting for Sparty against Duke, but otherwise I like seeing my daughter's alma mater win.

I have no problem admitting it... I respect the fact that they put out a quality product year in and year out...

I also understand that they elicit a certain emotion from people that supersede's rational brain function...
So you have to have a poorly functioning brain to dislike the unfair advantages Duke gets? That's some crap. Plenty of people can recognize that Duke gets more than their fair share without being on the lunatic fringe.

Settle down... Irrational does not equal poor...

And aside from a travel here or a charge there that you can produce from youtube (that EVERYONE gets), I've been asking YOU specifically for years to show me foul numbers that prove Duke gets more calls than the average team...
