After watching the Olympics and last year's playoffs, I've decided to give the NHL a try this season. My city doesn't have a team, and I won't follow a team from Nashville or Atlanta on general principal, so I'll be supporting the only team whose games I've actually been to before - the Capitals.

Going to see them tonight in Atlanta, so, yeah.
Nice work, fan.

:shake:

Thrashers up 4-0 on the Caps.

Have you seen Hall play much this year? Curious how his game is developing. Haven't been able to watch the Oilers this year. I want to see how Hall, Paajarvi and Eberle are looking.

I know Hall has been putting up some nice numbers after a slow start. His overtime winner against St. Louis was really nice.

Speaking of rookies.. Kadri had a nasty shootout goal against the Bruins..

something else interesting, is anyone else surprised brian lee cleared waivers?

9th overall in 2005, marginal nhl numbers but has produced in the ahl, right handed shot 6-3, 215. two years left on his contract at 875k a piece, (prorated this year would be under 600k for the year.

I was. Figured a team like the Islanders would at least give him a shot. He's on a one-way contract, isn't he? Maybe that was why.

My Thrashers have won 6 of 7, including beating a couple a playoff teams from last year in that stretch :)

The aquisitions of Big Buff and Andrew Ladd have helped the team out quite a bit. We might make the playoffs this year.

you guys watch, if Detroit gets another forward injured they might sign him. They are kinda short on right-handed shots too

Another big body would be nice for Columbus as well.

I remember the old billboards for hockey in Atlanta that said "come watch our Yankees whup their Yankees".

One of the most brilliant pieces of advertising I have ever seen.

sitting right on top of the bar, 7-3-0 in the last ten. 9-8-1 in the east also.

i personally like peverly, relatively underrated player around the league if you ask me. enstrom is quietly making a name for himself as guy who made the jump from the sel late and has had a lot of success in his first three years.

that was a big trade it appear for the thrashers, toss in eager, soppel and a lot of parts went flying around. it seems, eraly on at least, that atl made a good move as an org.

modin also provides a winner and vet leadership. but hows hainsey treating you!

with Modano's status up in the air, Holland is more or less powerless at the moment. He'll know more towards the trade deadline.

BTW someone call the NHL and tell them that putting Ovie vs. Crysby in the Winter Classic is great and all, but doing it on New Year's day up against the bulk of the College football bowls - ESPECIALLY when Penn State happens to be playing....I mean come on here, who is really going to be watching it?

A little bit of logical would go a long way in the NHL....
