2010-2011 Men's Basketball (Outright Big Ten & BTT Champs)

Seriously. I'm not trying to be a pain in the ass, but I almost missed the UNCW game because I didnt have one on my desktop. I copied over the one from OZone but if I'm not on my home PC I dont always get to go over there and check it out.

There has to be some pretty good IT guys on here that could do this in a matter of seconds. Lots of greenies to whomever can get it done.

Buckeyes No. 2? Or 1A?

Ohio State is poised to move up to No.2 in the polls Monday, replacing Michigan State, which lost in the Maui Invitational earlier this week.

Miami University played No.1 Duke before visiting Value City Arena on Friday, and coach Charlie Coles said there's not that much difference between the Blue Devils and Buckeyes.

"In my mind, Duke is 1 and Ohio State is 1A," Coles said before the RedHawks' loss in Value City Arena.

"This is going to sound crazy, but I think when it?s all said and done, this team is going to be right on the level -- maybe not quite potentially as good -- but it?s going to be on the same level as that Oden year."

Ohio State, led by freshmen Greg Oden and Mike Conley Jr., entered the NCAA Tournament in 2007 ranked No.1 and reached the championship game before losing to Florida, the defending champion.

Coles said he bases his opinion on the fact that coach Thad Matta has "so many level-headed veterans" playing for him this season.

"That?s when Thad is good," Coles said. "When he?s got his guys really listening, that?s when his teams play well because he?s not going to mess it up. He?s not going to say the wrong thing to a kid.

"He?s great that way. I don?t know how he does it. He can really coach because he knows when enough is enough, and that?s a talent there. I wish I had that. He knows when enough is enough, so he never gets on anybody?s nerves."

Pregame: Florida State

Some quotes and notes heading into the Florida State game in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge:

- Jon Diebler wasn't available for an interview today before the Buckeyes left for Florida State, but thanks to Evan Turner's Twitter account, we know Diebler was engaged over the weekend.

Coach Thad Matta was asked, facetiously, if he had a policy against that during the season.

"Obviously not," he replied with a smile.

- A key to playing well on the road that Jared Sullinger said he learned at Florida is to "accept the crowd.

"The crowd is going to be loud, they?re going to say some negative things towards you and towards your family," Sullinger said, "but you?ve just got to let it go in one ear and out the other. You can?t let it bother you."

That's tough to do at times, he said, "but it?s life. They pay for their seats and they?re going to say what they?re going to say. They try to get you out of your game. You?ve just got to play through it."

- Sullinger said after the win over Miami University on Friday that Matta told the Buckeyes they had lost their toughness in rebounding that they began the season with.

Matta said it's important they reclaim it against the Seminoles.

"We obviously need to rebound the ball more ferociously," he said. "In a game like this, both ends, offensively and defensively, rebounding can be the key.

"They?re such a good defensive team -- I think No.3 in the country right now -- that to go down there and think we?re going to shoot 60 percent or something like that is probably not going to happen. So can we get any (points) back in putbacks?

"Same thing (at the other end). I think our defense is getting better. But we?ve got to come up with the rebounds."

Ohio State beat Florida State 58-44 despite shooting just 32.2 percent from the field. It was the Buckeyes? worst shooting performance in a win over the past 15 years. The previous worst was a 32.8 percent performance against Indiana in the 2006 Big Ten tournament. The Bucks shot just 8-for-29 (27.6 percent) in the second half, but were saved by a 12-for-15 performance at the charity stripe. The Seminoles? shot-blockers played a big part in Ohio State?s poor shooting numbers. Florida State, which leads the nation with 8.6 blocks per game, swatted 10 shots, the most for an OSU opponent since Minnesota in 2004. Over the past 15 years, FSU is now 45-3 when holding opponents below 33 percent.

Postgame: Florida State

I would have liked to get this posted earlier. One problem: a low laptop battery and a lack of wall outlets in the Charlotte airport this afternoon.

Better later than never, though, so here are some notes and quotes from after last night's Ohio State victory in Tallahassee:

- The 44 points Florida State scored were its fewest in coach Leonard Hamilton's eight seasons, according to the Tallahassee Democrat.

In four games since the shootout at Florida in which the Gators made 61.2 percent of their attempts from the field, the Buckeyes have held their opponents to 33.2 percent. Florida State shot 35.4 percent.

"They don?t make a lot of defensive mistakes. They make you make plays," Hamilton said.

"In other words, some teams overplay and deny and do a lot of things, trap and things of that nature. They?re just solid. They don?t reach. They don?t gamble. They make you earn everything. You can get good looks, but you better make sure you knock them down."

"Make sure you knock them down" because the likelihood of a second chance is remote with Jared Sullinger and Dallas Lauderdale on the back line. Sullinger along had as many rebounds (seven) on Florida State's board as the Seminoles did. Lauderdale had five.

"They?re wide bodies that take up a lot of space," Hamilton said. "We didn?t do a very good job battling them."

- The last time Ohio State won a game scoring so few points was in a 52-47 win over Northwestern at home in the final game of the 2009 Big Ten season.

Autumn Commencement and Men's Basketball Game on 12/12 Impact Parking, Traffic

The largest autumn quarter graduating class and a home men's basketball game with Western Carolina will bring more than 30,000 people to campus on Sunday (12/12). Commencement will occur in the Jerome Schottenstein Center and the OSU vs. Western Carolina Men's Basketball game will occur in St. John Arena. Both events have a 2 p.m. start time, which means that highways, campus streets and parking facilities will be unusually congested.

I think last year they had one there. I can't remember who they played, though.
You are correct but I cannot remember the opponent either:)

Guess we are both wrong according the official website

Ohio State played again in St. John during the 2004-05 season, marking the first men's game played in the historic venue since the home finale in 1998. Ohio State played two games at St. John during the 2007-08 season, a 90-57 victory over VMI Nov. 25, 2007 and a 73-56 win vs. California in the 2008 National Invitation Tournament March 24, 2008. A game vs. Delaware State (W, 70-42) was played Nov. 20, 2008 as well.
