2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

Here's a fun little exchange from mgoblog.

Michigan could go 12-0 this year.

Sept. 5 Western Michigan WIN

Sept. 12 Notre Dame WINABLE

Sept. 19 Eastern Michigan GIMMIE

Sept. 26 Indiana (Homecoming) GIMMIE

Oct. 3 at Michigan State WIN

Oct. 10 at Iowa WINABLE

Oct. 17 Delaware State GIMMIE

Oct. 24 Penn State WINABLE

Oct. 31 at Illinois WINABLE

Nov. 7 Purdue WIN

Nov. 14 at Wisconsin WIN

Nov. 21 Ohio State TOSS UP

and if that alone isn't good enough for a laugh (check out the guys reasoning for a really good laugh, their defense is going to be 'much improved'), here are some of my favorite responses:

Let us never refer to any football game as a "Gimmie" for the rest of all of our lives.

"There are plenty of qbs that play their freshmen year and do just fine."

Not many at all, actually.

The gap between should win and did win has been kicking our ass lately.

I thought this too but then in year two of my dynasty I changed the difficulty from All-American to Heisman. Justin Feagin threw so many interceptions, it was ridiculous.

And this one just to highlight how truly pathetic being a Michigan Man has become these days. Going from the longest active bowl streak in college football to wishfully longing for bowl eligibility in less than two years. How in the fuck can anyone, other than us, support dickrod. It is almost as perplexing as it is hilarious.

Trust me. Due to past experience, I can tell you that it will hurt WAAAY less if you just accept the fact that we're not gonna be all that awesome for a few years. After last year when my pie in the sky ideas of 7-5, & possibly, maybe, if RR actually WAS a deity, 8-4 were dashed, I can give this team no more than 6-6. And that's only because I can't imagine missing bowl eligibility 2 years in a row. Slightly irrational bowl dreams aside, I'd probably put my money on the marks of 5-7 or 4-8, anything better than that just being gravy.

Also, I didn't want to post every single response in this thread, but they are all pretty hilarious, I would recommend you go check it out if you can stomach it.

What is truly irrational - and I keep coming back to this - is how many fans who accept that they will struggle this season continue to talk in terms of RR "turning the program around" from the Carr era.

Carr was 9-4 in his final season with a bowl win over Florida. And the year before was a few poll points away from appearing in the NC game.

That the RR offense will work at all in the Big Ten is -at this time - nothing more than conjecture.

Good point. In a sense he's already turned the program around. Congratulations!

Just a thought... Does anybody else think that RR recruits smallish, younger looking kids to fulfill his homoerotic fantasies? He has stated that he wants to turn young boys into men or something like that.

Well, he's been known to like smaller packages..

Just got a text...

Vlad Emilien is now the UM starting safety, despite not being 100%.

I don't think you'll see the 3-3-5 as a base defense. Greg Robinson doesn't use it. He's talked mainly about pro sets and not having a particular all-the-time defense, which leads me to believe we'll be in a 4-3 more often than not.
Correct, but your adjustment went in the wrong direction.
