Michigan is the only Big Ten team engaged in contact drills -- seven more start this week -- and the lone squad holding controlled scrimmages. True freshman Tate Forcier took the first snaps in Saturday's scrimmage, which lasted about 100 plays but was closed to the media.
According to The Detroit News, Forcier had a 20-yard completion to Brandon Minor and fumbled on the next play of the portion of practice reporters were allowed to see. Michigan did not release statistics or other details about the scrimmage."We will see how composed he is working with those guys," head coach Rich Rodriguez said of Forcier working with the first unit. "We have a smaller package. We'll simplify things. He shouldn't get overloaded."Also, as part of Michigan's spring game festivities April 11, Rodriguez wants to recognize the 10 former Wolverines players involved in this year's Super Bowl. So far, linebackers LaMarr Woodley and Larry Foote have pledged to be a part of the event.

Innuendos aside (kind of), I like how Rodriguez acted like they had a big package last year. I think they ran about five different plays against us last year.
It was really only one play..... one run by Beanie, and the other with Herron.BuckeyeNation27;1439976; said:I was bitching during their one drive when they were marching down the field with only two plays. Then we scored on literally two plays

I can deduce a 4 - 8 season this year.jwinslow;1440248; said:MGoBlue: University of Michigan Athletics
Bottom right, "spring practice report" link under video square. These are the good plays.
1. Tate showed good mobility and solid passing out there, certainly a big step up from the abomination from last fall. Still need to see him get hit.
2. The defense is still very poor. Same old script: missed tackles, overrunning plays, etc. Once again we see reinforcement of why Barwis - who has done a great job - cannot fix the main problem for UM's defense.
3. A dead horse at this point, but it is remarkable how small UM is on O. This is the school of Hutchinson, Long, Henne, Brady, Edwards, Terrell, ATrain, etc. Obviously there are some benefits to quickness (Vincent), but after Minor graduates, this will be a very short offense. (Tate, Vincent, Tay, Terrance)
4. Justin Feagin actually threw a pass! Behind the LOS, but I'm not sure I've seen that before, and it was easy to see why.
He does look like a step up from The Threet/Sheridan two-headed monster, but most QB's do look decent in non-contact drills. How his puny frame handles contact and how he reacts to 220-280 lb college players chasing him will be interesting to see. Also, how much will the line have improved from last year?jwinslow;1440248; said:MGoBlue: University of Michigan Athletics

This amazes me. DR still seems to be under the impression that a strong offense (if it ever becomes that) is enough to win big. They may be able to get away with marginal recruits eventually on offense, but on D, he's still going to need to bring in elite players to compete. He got one, maybe two last year in Cambell and Turner, but they don't appear to be in on a whole lot this year aside from maybe Marvin Robinson. He seems to think he can get by offering marginal prospects and projects. You'd think he'd realize he's at m*ch*g*n and would try a little harder to get those elite guys.2. Again, he seems content to bring in a boat load of marginal/project kids and thinks he can get by on that. I cannot believe the um name can't get more elite backs (spread or not) to look harder at them. They may find a way to utilize some of those smallish backs/slot dots, but they cannot carry the load in the running game. Devine is a rarity and he's doing it in the much less physical BE.3. But he was supposed to be better than Pryor! They said so!4. Justin Feagin actually threw a pass! Behind the LOS, but I'm not sure I've seen that before, and it was easy to see why.
