2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

TSUN sure has a great start on next years recruiting class...

how many available schollies given the max defections?

To paraphrase Brian for MGOBLOG from about a week ago: 12 seniors, 4 unused counting Threet's, Should be able to force out 2-3 5th year seniors of 8 for next year, and the usual attrition of at least 4. His total was at least 22. He said don't be suprised if it was another full class of 25.

3 straight years of full classes would almost Qualify RR for SEC of the north honors. Maybe they are onto something? Too bad UM espouses to be an Ivy League institution off the field, and plays like one on the field.

So.....anyone catch the brouhaha on the TSUN Rivals & Scout boards the last couple days? Apparently, one of the admins on the MSU Rivals site (Matt Dorsey) hinted right after the US Army Combine a couple months ago that a future Wolverine put up a truly eye opening 40 yard dash time. Well, Rivals posted the results a couple days ago, and check out #462:

http://www.usarmycombine.com/NC_PDFs/nc-results2009.pdf

That'd be future Wolverine WR Jeremy Jackson.:eek: Someone on the MSU Rivals site noticed this and brought it up, and Dorsey confirmed that's what he was referring to. Of course, the info got to TheWolverine in a matter of minutes, and they all said there's no way that he ran that slow, and there's no way to know that he was #462. Then lord & savior Josh Helmholdt (admin, TheWolverine) posts unequivocally that Jackson did not take part in any of the activities at the combine and that someone else had to have worn #462. But credit those tricky posters on the MSU site who dared stand up to the big bad UM admins. Not that it was terribly difficult. A quick browsing of Jackson's Rivals profile photo gallery turned up this gem:

JEREMYJACKSON09AC200.JPG

Helmholdt then went into hiding, and no one hears from him for a long time. Then Tom Beaver (admin, GoBlueWolverine) issues a statement, having not yet seen the pictoral evidence posted above: not only did Jackson not run at the combine, but Matt Dorsey wasn't there and just made the stuff up. Someone threw the above picture on there, and Dorsey responds by posting pictures of himself AT the combine. :eek: Not sure if Beaver's responded yet-still waiting to hear back from my friend who's premium on the M sites.

So now we've got both M sites with major egg on their respective faces, until Helmholdt comes crawling back late this afternoon, saying that Jackson's father (UM RBs coach Fred Jackson) told him before the event that the kid wasn't going to run, and he believed him. So can anything Jackson and/or Helmholdt say be considered 100% factual from this point forth? They claim the kid had a ton of big time offers (Florida, LSU etc. etc. etc.) before committing to Michigan, but there's been exactly zero discussion of him on any non-Michigan sites, and let's be honest here: would Urban Meyer recruit a receiver who runs a 5.32? Really? In any event, looking forward to hearing more about this from the M sites. I can't even imagine how you try to spin this, though Tom Beaver spins as well as anyone this side of the Iraqi Information Minister:

I'll never forget the "Infidels are nowhere close to Baghdad" line, just as a US tank cruises through the background of the video clip. :biggrin:

God bless those [censored]ers. 50.1% chance Beaver vomits from all the spinning. :slappy:

Found this gem a few minutes ago...

Scout.com: Is this Negative recruiting by the osu board? I think so!

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Nothing more negative than reality of just having completed the worst season of football since the team began playing in 1879. If they're so into this whole negative recruiting conspiracy, maybe they should consider firing RR and hiring one that actually wins games.

We are BUCKEYE fans. There is nothing more that we want than having a lame duck coach continuing Coach Carr's amazing streak in our rivalry with them. We don't want to see him fired. He can stay there for as long as they want him to grace us with their losses to us in The Game!

We're just being realistic. And being TSUN fans, they are just looking for excuses.

The post combine talk is that part of his game resembles Fred Biletnikoff's. :slappy:

Now, substitute the words 'John Cooper' for Lloyd Carr, and vice versa. It seems to me that I recollect the same thing. Meatchicken fans wanted to see Coop stay forever (he almost did) because good 'ol 2-10-1 OSU was a Michigan patsy. Now the tables are turned, and the Michigan fans aren't liking it one little bit. Oh well, maybe the tables will swing around again, some time, but hopefully long after I'm planted in the ground. Until that time, we'll let Michigan fans keep on thinking that the football recruits cannot see the difference in the OSU and Michigan programs on the field or off the field, and are swayed by BN, BP, (insert other name here) saying that the coach is sick or will retire, and they would automatically gravitate to the arch enemy.

If that's truly the case, then maybe the recruit isn't up to OSU standards mentally. And Michigan is welcome to 'em.

:gobucks3::gobucks4::banger: And Michigan still :scum4:

He hasn't, and don't look for him to. Just like when challenged to produce evidence when he flung accusations during Pryor's recruitment last year, he'll demure because that's the kind of clown he is. What do you expect from an "insider" who won't make predictions worth more than what amounts to a coin flip.

The chances of this coming to pass are about 50.1%
