2009 TSUN News (football only discussion)

Texas will play at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, Wyoming on September 12th.

Capacity 32,580.

They got a 2-for-1 deal there (away-home-home in "Mili-speak"), but I'm still surprised they agreed to that.
I just thought of that Texas game this year not too long after I said that. I have no idea how Wyoming pulled that off. They're getting Nebraska to come to Laramie in the next few years too. Good for them, but I have no idea why Texas and Nebraska would agree to play in that stadium against a bottom feeder Mountain West team.

doesn't their newfound love for Gardner kind of fly in the face of their idea that tater tot is their newest savior? and what about this robinson kid who can run a 2.2 40? how many QBs do they plan on playing?

With the way QBs tend to get broken in two behind RRod assembled OLines ... they'll need a lot.

What new found love of Gardner are you referring to?

I think Michigan fans have been crazy over Gardner from day 1.

There is A LOT to like there by the way.

Now, in no way do I think he's as good as Terrelle Pryor was in high school, but I do think that he is about as close as you can get short of Pryor himself.

Gardner is definitely super-talented and a legit QB, and IMO unless Tate just lights the world on fire this year it'll be almost impossible for him to hold Gardner at bay come 2010.

Gardner is extremely talented, but at this point is at least as raw a passer as TP was at the same point in his career. If Tater is at least compitent, I think he holds that job until DG is ready.

Now, if your scenario comes to fruition and DG starts from day 1, how would you expect Tater to handle that given his family's nomadic tendencies? I'd bet a large sum of money he's asking for a transfer faster than Rita snags up a leopard print at a blue light special sale...

Got any more of that? :pimp:

Puff, puff, pass.

Did you actually read my post?

I did acknowledge that Pryor was definitely a better athlete and high school player. Having said that, I stick by what I said.

The best running QB's that I have ever seen since I've been following recruiting were Vince Young and Terrelle Pryor. Devin Gardner, IMO is the third best.

I admit that Young and Pryor are the elite of the elite as far as running QB's go and they both were definitely a step above Gardner, but IMO Devin Gardner is right behind them and is as talented as you'll see short of Young and Pryor themselves.

Gardner is a legit 6'4" and 200+ pounds. He runs a legit 4.5-40, he's a strong runner, very slippery and elusive and he can also jump out of the gym. While his mechanics do need work, he does possess a very strong arm.

BTW, according to EVERY report that I have seen from the Elite 11, Gardner's mechanics are night and day, and he looks like a completely different QB than the one he was a year ago.

BTW, Gardner also brings it on the field. He's a proven player. Kid led his team to a 12-2 record and scored almost 50 TD's throwing and running at a brand new high school as a junior.

And it will be what the fall of 2010 before he shows up to help and then is just another talented true freshman getting ready to feel some growing pains? 2010 OSU team looks to be loaded and The Game is in Columbus. Ask Henne how that works for freshmen QB's.

Please stop saying "by the way" every 4 sentences.

I don't think his film looks like a 4.5 guy. It takes him a little while to cover ground and he doesn't pull away from the defenders very well. Perhaps his senior film will change that.
BTW, Gardner also brings it on the field.
I have no idea what value this adds.
He's a proven player.

Gardner has the chance to be a very good QB. I think his junior film showed an above average runner, not a great one... but combined with his size, arm strength and RR's system, he can develop nicely.

By the way, does he play defense?
