I understand that. I'm just wondering what other redshirt freshmen and sophomores are destined to be career backups.
Hemingway is on his way to bring a career backup, un large part due to health. I'm on my phone, so I can only go by memory here:

08 class:
Career backup: Feagin, Moore
Maybe: mealer, Brandon Smith,
Plays but as a role player: roundtree

09 class:
Gordon

I'm not high on Jeremy Jackson making an impact, particularly if Ricardo miller grows into yet another athletic tight end to go with koger, Webb, and Moore.

Drake will be a backup, if he isn't dropped before signing day for better recruits (like they did with Barnes and peace).

I would take roundtree off that list and which Gordon are you talking about with regards to the 09 class? Pretty solid list otherwise!

I'm not thrilled with either gordon, but I think Cameron is a tweener. Thomas isn't great, but he plays a position which needs as many bodies as possible, so I could see him contributing some, at least early on.

I don't know enough about Witty to judge fairly.

Some positions have some iffy players that will still play due to lack of depth.

Gallon, Odoms, Stokes, Miller, RB 1, RB 2 will all be bigger elements of the passing game than Roundtree imo. I'll wait till he does something against something other than the UM secondary. He probably doesn't belong in the same category as Moore (who I don't see doing much at all).

Dann was behind in terms of work ethic and overall toughness, he doesnt have alot of push off the ball right now.

:roll1:. What a shock. Yet another kid leaves scUM, and he (like the others) just so happens to be a "career backup" who "was behind in terms of work ethic and overall toughness."

What I stated isnt an opinion its infromation from people close to the program. Dann was behind in terms of work ethic and overall toughness, he doesnt have alot of push off the ball right now. He could have developed, but others are ahead of him and working harder. I have had the chance to meet Dann a couple of times hes a really nice kid and I hope everything works out for him.

Maybe it is just me but saying a kid isn't tough or is behind in work ethic sounds a lot like opinion.

RR seems to have an incredible ability to only weed out the kids who are not tough and are not working hard. Or, maybe that is what every fan base says about kids that leave..I dunno.

For the sake of UM fans I hope RR never runs off a quality player that works hard and is a solid football player.

coBORENugh.

Anyway...it does sound like this kid's interest are elsewhere. I'll buy it...unles he transfers out to play ball some where else.

OL depth is a valuable commodity in the B10..even if he wasn't in line for a lot of game reps..the team would benefit from having him in practice to work the DL and push the starting OL.

All of those guys are unproven and Roundtree does something no WR on our roster does on a consistent basis besides Matthews, he catches the football.

How in the heck does that help their program? Don't you see, O'Neill quitting frees up a scholarship for another slot receiver?!

It's all part of The Master Plan(tm).

Not suprising, but the Scout board is already blowing up about it being good that the Offensive Lineman left so it would free of a scholarship for Kelvin Grady...

Rumor has it that Grady has been asked to be at a playing weight of 290 by the fall. Good thing they have BARWIS!!!!11!!!!
