If you are a UM fan, you should be worried about the recruitment of skill position players. It's not only that OSU is conspicuously absent from their offer lists, but imo there is another group of players that don't have OSU offers either but are clearly a level above your current verbals in skill. Braylon Heard, Andre Givens and Bobby Swigert are a few guys that I would take over any of your current verbals.
Over D'aver & Drake (baffling offer), maybe. Possibly OH WR Robinson (if he isn't a solid defender at the next level). Dileo might be a wash.

None of these names is in the same ballpark as Ricardo Miller, however.

Miller definitely fits the mold of talented WRs that Michigan used to be able to recruit from the south and from PA (Clemons and Hemmingway come to mind). But it seems that they are not trying as hard or isn't as patient to get guys like that.

Hemingway still has 3 years. Terrance Robinson, Odoms had a solid freshman year - most productive in school history is memory serves me.

Je'ron Stokes is an amazing athlete, he's gonna be real good. Jeremy Gallon - if he qualifies. Denard Robinson, we'll see where he ends up.

I think this is why you see RR grabbing so many WRs in 2010. Ideally, in his offense, he wants something like 8 WRs rotating in all the time.

Four more offers for Fulton

By Phil Kornblut
DB John Fulton (6-0 180) of Manning picked up four more offers recently from Auburn, North Carolina, Michigan and Virginia Tech. He also has offers from USC, Clemson, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, NC State and Tennessee. Fulton said recruiters from all the offering schools have been by this spring, and tries to call each of them at least once a week. He talked to Clemson's Andre Powell last week and USC's Shane Beamer this week. "They just talk about how they want me to stay in state," Fulton said. "They talk about the facilities, academics and the chance to play early." Fulton said he will visit several schools in June for camps and unofficial visits. Clemson and USC will get unofficial visits. Fulton said his current top five, in order, is Alabama, Florida, USC, Georgia and Tennessee. He said USC is the one school moving up. "They put defensive backs in the NFL," he said. "It's a chance to play in the SEC and help them get over the hump and help them win an SEC championship." Fulton plans to make a decision after his season.

I'm thinking LT. You need a huge bohemith to protect your QB's backside.
See video of FSN's Sports Science host John Brenkus blocking (er, well ... not blocking) NFL Pro Bowler Kris Jenkins. Appears at one minute into this preview video.

This is what U-M's offensive line will be looking like:

Here is the thing that baffles me about last year for UM and why I continue to quesiton RR's ability to lead a program and adapt to the available talent. I have read all the UM fans thinking they are on a golden path and the detractors who think RR is a huge mistake..for me it comes down to this:

Last year UM tried a number of players at a number of positions and didn't advance the team. Instead they learned a lot of things that didn't work..but didn't seem to build on those growing pains to start zeroing in on what will work going forward. There is no reason to think they will be better next year because we didn't see any growth last season...hell in some areas they regressed as the season wore on.

It is one thing to have a [censored] season..but I would expect a good coach to be able to build on those failures..but UM doesn't seem to have done that...no benefit from the lumps they took last year..it was just a lost season. UM fans might start to disagree...but if you ask them where they will be better the list is mostly comprised of guys who haven't played yet..or guys that are going to get better..just because.

IF you are going to fail..at least try and learn and get better...after all there is no better way to learn what will work than seeing what doesn't..but it seems like RR and crew wasted the opportunity to learn by just confirming what won't work rather than tinkering to make it better. Now they have a long list of stuff that sucked...but no positve trends or changes they can leverage to show improvment and raise the program back up.

Other than RB they didn't seem to find anything last year. It looks like they are turning over their line up again...and the D won't have much time to get it together since they had to use walk ons to fill in the two deep in spring ball.

I get how a team could have a bad year....I just don't see how the staff wasn't able to take some of those lumps and develop the program better. In 2001 JT had a rough season..but by the end we saw some sparks and some fight. We lost to S Carolina and were actually a bit excited about it because the team stayed after it and some things started to click in the second half...some things the team could clearly build on.

I didn't see a lick of that out of UM last year. RR [censored]ed that entire season down the drain. And the only reason they found something at RB is because McGuffie got waxed and they had to start plugging guys in.

It is really strange to me that the staff didn't make adjustments that would help the team get better..instead they threw it at the new recruits to raise the program up..but didn't get them much help on D.

I know I am an OSU fan so some of this might be a bit overstated..but this is like a car wreck..I am fascinated more by what hasn't happened at UM to make things better than what they have done to try and improve. It is........odd.
