Would not have been recruited much, if at all
WR commit Jeremy Jackson (6-4, 200) Ann Arbor, MI

Hmmm, considering his offer list, I wonder if OSU wouldn't have offered him. His ranking from the services is a little puzzling based on offers from lsu, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, etc... The ranking doesn't seem in-line with the programs that want him. Anyone have any insight?

The offer list always seemed a bit odd to me. For such a national recruit (with amazing offers before his junior season), why were 100% of his interviews by Michigan sites?

We don't need slot guys. I have no idea what this kid looks like or plays like but I know if he is being recruited by scUM, he is probably under 5'10 and weighs about 175. We picked up about 2-3 of those guys last year and tOSU is being pretty picky about receiver offers at this point. Kyle Prater doesn't even have a tOSU offer right now.

JJackson is a big possession WR, maybe a flex TE. Unlike Robinson, Gallon and other skill players, I don't really see a UM level WR in his film, let alone one everyone offers halfway through highschool. But I'm no talent scout either.

He's also the son of the UM RB coach Fred Jackson, the lone holdover from RR's regime. That may play into the offer a bit.

I doubt he has those offers. His service ranking makes a lot of sense if you've seen him play.

Jackson is definitely not a slot receiver. Like Jwinslow said, he's a possession receiver. He's listed at 6'3" and 190 lbs on scout, and 194 lbs on rivals.

Also, despite his father being a coach at UM, Jeremy was very close to committing to Texas before he befriended Ricardo Miller.

Why does he have a UM offer then?
I can't answer that as I'm not in the program. I assume he has an offer because, like Florida, Texas, and other, UM think he's a great player that will help them win games. Obviously.

Are they recruiting him to play TE/DE?
WR. RR doesn't use the tight end very much, but has apparently been visiting Oklahoma to get ideas for using the TE more, since UM has a pretty good one in Koger.

Which goes back to my question about why a national recruit didn't seem to surface on any non-UM sites... especially if he was that close to being a longhorn. Allen broke the Texas-JJack affinity in April of 08, yet there was no follow up on Scout or Rivals from Texas.

I really don't know, I'm just speculating here.

Yeah, I can't really say. His ranking and offer list sure is odd. I know he's not very quick, and that may have hurt his ranking. Perhaps he has the offers because of his upbringing and colleges think he'll be able to contribute right away because he's always been taught by top notch coaches. Pure speculation here, too.

If you are a UM fan, you should be worried about the recruitment of skill position players. It's not only that OSU is conspicuously absent from their offer lists, but imo there is another group of players that don't have OSU offers either but are clearly a level above your current verbals in skill. Braylon Heard, Andre Ware and Bobby Swigert are a few guys that I would take over any of your current verbals.
