High School 2009 State Playoffs

Haha I figured they wouldn't be the most popular in your neck of the woods. Good to see that the conference is so strong though. All 3 teams that advanced won convincingly and have a solid shot at winning their next games.

Yea its definitely good to see. Much better than a couple years ago (2007?) when 4-5 teams made it and all got blown out of the water in the first round. I'm personally pulling for Tecumseh and Shawnee. Two schools that were always really classy when I played them.

Another OSU matchup next week.

Darryl Baldwin and his Solon Comets will face Glenville for the regional title and a trip to states. Glenville is just going to be way, way too much for them.

And another awesome matchup is a classic rematch....Canton McKinley Vs. Massillon. McKinley has been on fire lately, talking about peaking at the right time. They're an 8 seed that just squeaked in that could win states.

Don' forget the always close Davidson vs. Coffman! Maybe, just maybe, we will see Davidson throw a pass in this game.

True, that's just not in my neck of the woods so I'm less familiar. The other D1 matchup is Elder Vs. Anderson, so we have Cinci/Columbus/Canton/Cleveland very well represented. Toledo really struggled this year in the playoffs.

I've got Davidson in the rematch.

They were short handed the first time around, so I'll give them the edge this time around, assuming they are healthy.

I was at the first Massillon/McKinley game...turnovers really hurt Massillon, and McKinley didn't have a single one. I bet it will be the big key again this time around, as both offenses were able to move the ball. McKinley is definitely playing better, but this playoff matchup is anybody's ballgame.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Maple Hts. and Avon Lake advance. Maple Hts. has the talent to take that region with Shaq leading the way.

what a great prediction :wink2:

Maple Hts. Vs. Lake Catholic next Friday, winner goes to the state title game for D2

Glenville Vs. Solon tonight, as well as Canton McKinley Vs. Massillon Washington

If Glenville comes focused like they did against Iggy's, it's going to be a very bad night for Solon....just way too physically overmatched

off topic since I'm bringing up Louisiana
I went to Vandebilt Catholic High. Was 3A at the time.

When I was playing ('94 & '95 seasons) we got a terrible 1st round draw both years and had to play Edna Karr AT Edna Karr. Needless to say, we got beat down both years even though we had pretty good teams.

Fast forward to this year. FINALLY we get to play Karr at our place (both schools are 4A now) in the 2nd round.
Final score :
Edna Karr 54
Vandebilt 6

god I hate those guys!

Don't get a chance to get on here very often but I just wanna say congrats to my Columbus southsiders from Marion-Franklin. #8 seed in D2 Region 7. Beat the #1 seed and team in the state in Louisville in the opening round and just revenged their Week 1 loss to Brookhaven in the Regional Final last night. Won 31-24 last night in a great game at Gahanna. Next week doesn't get much easier as they draw Winton Woods.
