2009 Heisman Trophy discussion

Mark Ingram a Heisman contender? He's averaging just over 110 yards a game, for crying out loud. And he's far from Heisman-worthy from a talent or excitement perspective.

I repeat: there should be no award this season.

until today, he'd been a difference maker for Bama's offense.

Today, however, Tennessee pretty much shut him down and didn't allow him to keep the chains moving.

how about Terrence Cody?....played one heck of a ball game against Tennessee. He should also be in the discussion.

Haven't seen him play.

From who I've seen play though.. Coleman is the best. Homerism aside. Haven't got to watch as much college football this year as I usually do, but I really can't think of anyone who has looked better.

One things for damn sure, Heisman winners shouldn't throw two pick sixes to Mississippi State...

But he's Tim Tebow...he's doing all this with a concussion that lasts all season you know... :shake:

If there was ever a year for linemen and defensive players to get a serious look, this is the year.

18-99 in a tight game is still difference-maker material, and it's the only game he didn't score in this season. ~1200 rush/rec yards, 11 TDs on the undefeated #2 team, I'm fine giving Ingram the Heisman if it keeps Tebow from getting the legacy award in a down season for individual standouts.

18-99 is not difference maker material at all, but it's not campaign ending either. It's a nice, solid day at the office... not falling behind, not showing off. Right in the meaty part of the curve.

On that team in that game, it is. Of course Cody was the man as he so often is for Bama, but Ingram did much of what he generally does to help keep them undefeated today. It's no "Heisman moment" by any means, but in a defensive struggle putting up nearly a hundred makes a difference.
