Which golfer wins The Open Championship this year?

Phil announced today that he's staying home to be with his wife.

[censored]ing Villegas isn't going to win dick until he starts to get serious.

Quit preening and start draining some puts.

I think he can see the Claret Jug from down there!

Tom Watson finished his first round with a 65, and sits alone at -5 on the leaderboard.

Conditions are pretty good - no rain and almost no wind today.

Tom by God Watson.

Old. School. Awesome.

There was a poll question on ESPN asking who you'd rather see win The Open between Tiger Woods and Tom Watson. I was surprised to see that Tiger was the overwhelming choice. I don't see how you could root for a big-time favorite in the prime of his career against a 60 year-old underdog.

Thanks for the post. That poll, indeed, shocks the hell out of me. I don't know for sure about the other 40-50 somethng posters out there, but for my purposes Jack Nicklaus is the only player that ever played the game that I'd rather see win than Tom Watson. And on those occasions over the years that Tom hopped up and bit Jack in the ass, I had no problem with it whatsoever. Tom was, and still is one of the most gracious and endearing players on Tour. Anyone who would want Tiger to win in this situation probably was rooting for Mason "The Line" Dixon against Rocky Balboa.

Peace.

Yes, the "Duel in the Sun....Watson threw out a 65 on the final day to beat Jack's 66. Watson had to make a 3ft birdie putt on the final hole because Nicklaus drained a long snake at the end. I believe at the end of the day both those guys lapped the field by 10-11 strokes. Tom must have thought it was 1977 again. I wished someone would finally push Tiger "eyeball to eyeball" in a major but that is wishful thinking I fear.....

Having said that "GO TOM"......
