Since it's just tape on a carpet, I see this as a harmless prank that justs adds a little spice to the rivalry. OK, except for the probable 'Breaking and Entering' charge.

UT message found in A&M complex

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) -- Burglars who broke into the Texas A&M football complex stole some athletic items and left behind a rival's message.

KBTX-TV reports athletic tape was used to write the words "The Eyes of
Texas Are Upon You" on the carpet of the locker room.

The tune by that name is a tradition of the University of Texas.
Associate athletic director Alan Cannon says some football equipment was stolen. The extent of the losses was under investigation.

Texas A&M's police believe the break-in at the Bright Football Complex happened Monday night. So far no arrests.

I think the Big XII needs to consider fielding some defenses next year. Their offenses are good, but the numbers are a bit inflated by the atrocious defenses they face. Iowa State had the 31st ranked passing offense in the nation last year, and they won all of 2 games (Kent State and South Dakota State). They were one of the worst passing offenses in the Big XII, too. Does that give you an idea of how poor the Big XII defenses were? The bowl games weren't really a fluke - it would be a hell of a coincidence if all of those teams suddenly had an off day on defense.
OU held Florida with Percy Harvin to 24 points and Alabama who has one of the best defenses in the nation supposedly let up 31 without Harvin.

Exactly, i'm sick of how people let these silly media encourage ideas skew their opinions of conferences. First of all, statistics mean next to nothing. Second of all while teams like Tech and Mizzou have no defenses...Texas and Oklahoma recruit elite players at their defensive positions and their defenses have been nasty when under the right coordinator. There have been some Texas and OU defenses this decade that could make any team piss their pants. espescially the OU defenses in the early days of Stoop's tenure their with Mike Stoops as DC. And with Muschamp entering his second year I only expect Texas' defense to get much better.

Despite Texas having more 1st place votes, the two teams tied in the preseason media poll.

Sooners, Horns atop Big 12 poll

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Oklahoma or Texas in the Big 12 South? Both for now.

The Sooners and Longhorns are tied for the top spot in the preseason poll determined from a media vote. Texas got 17 first-place votes and Oklahoma got the other 15, but both had the same number of poll points.
Nebraska is favored in the North Division.

The Cornhuskers, who have won the North only once since taking three of the first four titles by 1999, finished coach Bo Pelini's first season with four consecutive victories.

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford, the Heisman Trophy winner last season, was picked as the preseason offensive player of the year. Nebraska tackle Ndamukong Suh (en-DAHM'-eh-ken SOO) is the top defensive player.

A poorly worded headline. The new stadium will be under consideration as a permanent site for the CCG.

Big 12 considers Cowboys Stadium as permanent home

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe says the league will eventually consider whether to make the new Cowboys Stadium a permanent home for its football championship game.

Speaking Tuesday during a tour of the $1.15 billion facility, Beebe said the Big 12 board of directors wasn't ready to create permanent sites when it last decided the rotation of venues for championship events in all sports.

"But they haven't seen this," Beebe said.

The Big 12 title game will be in the Dallas-Fort Worth suburb of Arlington the next two years.

Rivals.com College Football - Who will be division champs in the Big 12?

Today's question: Big 12 Media Days were held last week. Texas and Oklahoma tied for the top spot in the Big 12 South preseason poll determined from a media vote. The media picked Nebraska to take the crown in the North. Which teams do you think will win the division titles and why?

Tom Dienhart's answer:
I like Oklahoma in the South. Yes, I know the Sooners have to replace four starters on the offensive line, but I think most people are making too big of a deal about that. The skill-position talent is almost unmatched, beginning with QB Sam Bradford, TE Jermaine Gresham and RBs DeMarco Murray and Chris Brown. Any rough spots that the offense may experience early on will be smoothed over by a killer defense.

Laughed when I saw this answer, not surprisingly from Dienhart. That is almost word for word what we heard about Clemson last year. Of course, there's a difference between Tommy Bowden and Bob Stoops but still, the media never places enough importance on line play. They only care about QB's, WR's, and RB's.

And who believe in Oklahoma State? I'm trying. . . but I believe more in weak Big 12 defenses as shown by last year's bowl games. I have little faith in Missouri as well. Just like Iowa after 2004, people tend to let teams ascend to a higher level too early. I expect Kansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma State to drop a bit this year. Okay, Oklahoma State has some amazing skill players and a decent line, so I may be wrong there, but I still feel there was a bit of lightning caught there. . .

CFN picks 10-2 Missouri and 11-1 Oklahoma (in a head-to-head tiebreaker over Okie St) to meet in the CCG.

They foresee 3 losses for Texas - the RR Shoutout, at Mizzou, at Okie St.

That means they are expecting Texas to lose three games in a row...seriously there has been a lot of Texas hate on that site lately. I don't think that has ever happened in the Mack Brown era.

Texas hung half a hundred on them the last two times they met. Missouri just lost their all everything playmaker and they're going to take down Texas?

I wonder if anyone has ever tracked CFN's hit rate on these predictions, because they have a lot of odd ones.
