2009-2010 Lady Buckeyes Basketball (6 straight Big Ten Titles)

Even though this game was very 'un-Sammy like' at 6-16 FG, 4-11 FT, 5 TO, but for her to be quoted on OSU website as 'taking the blame for losing her touch at the line' is ridiculous. Sarah was 2-6 FG w/3 TO; Taylor was 2-9 FG w/4 TO; Brittany was 0-4 FG w/1 TO, but had 3 rebounds despite showing a noticable limp on her bad ankle even in warmups; Jantel was 11-20 FG w/4 TO, 11 rebounds, got beatup all day inside; Amber 2-3 FG w/2 TO, played good defense second half but needs better decision-making. I feel frustration set in when defense disappeared in overtime, we clearly heard Hill from our floor seats criticizing a teammate, again not a wise move. There should not be a single girl tonight happy with the way they played, best to remember this game as they step on the court Thursday night and show no mercy!

if Sammy Prahalis and Tayler Hill wore knee high socks during games.
I know Sammy did at least once last year and I've seen a picture of Tayler wearing them in H.S.

Um...ok?!?

I won't ask if there's anything else you'd like them to wear during a game. We'll just leave that one alone.

OSU women's basketball: Seniors leaving program on top
Little says Buckeyes want more than Big Ten title
Thursday, February 25, 2010
By Jim Massie
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The last practice before the last game that the senior class of the Ohio State women's basketball team will play in Value City Arena roared by yesterday afternoon with doses of laughter, screams and plain nose-to-the-grindstone work.

Four seasons, uncounted hours in the practice gym, weight room and training room have come and gone seemingly like four sweeping rotations on a Ferris wheel. Life, simply and always, happened amid the theater of 128 games.

"It's crazy," Shavelle Little said. "Yesterday I was talking with coach (Jim) Foster. When I was a little kid, I can remember me dreaming of being at this point in my life. Now I'm living in that moment and it's almost unreal."

The ladies jumped out to a quick 20-4 lead on Northwestern but played quite poorly for the rest of the first half and only led 30-25 at the break. Fortunately, they came out very strong in the 2nd half and out-scored NW 48-22 the rest of the way. 26 and 14 for Lavender, 14 points and 14 assists for Prahalis.

Only 16 fouls called and 8 free throw attempts between the two teams.

78-47 :oh:

Congratulations Ladies! Fun watching all 4 seniors on the floor together for a while in each half, kept wishing they would've kept them in longer.

Now it's time for the trainers to go to work and get all the knees, ankles, shoulders, etc. all healed up and ready to go for the post season. Good timing having Sunday off while other teams play this weekend. Extra rest from not having a game will hopefully get some injury issues resolved by the end of next week.

Yes it was! Hard to believe that class is graduating already, but kudos to them for being part of a solid team core even when younger players came in and grabbed the starting roles. I'll miss watching Daniels' energy, Walker's swats, Moeller's continual improvement, and Little's terrorizing of opposing PGs. :)

Salem?s Amy Scullion named Gatorade Ohio Girls Basketball Player of the Year
By B.J. LISKO, Salem News Sports Editor
POSTED: March 11, 2010

SALEM -Add another award to the pile. In what is one of the first of likely many post-season accolades this year, Salem senior Amy Scullion was named the 2009-10 Gatorade Ohio Girls Basketball Player of the Year Thursday. Scullion is the first Gatorade Ohio Girls Player of the Year to be chosen from Salem High School.

"The award recognizes athletic excellence, as well as high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the court," according to the press release.

"I was definitely surpised," Scullion said. "It's a huge honor, and I'm just proud to be a part of it."

Scullion helped lead the Lady Quakers to an 18-6 record in 2009-10. In her four-year career, Scullion amassed a total record of 69-24, winning nearly three of every four games she played. This past season she averaged 18.5 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest. She is a three-time First-Team All-Conference selection as well as a 2010 McDonald's All-American selection committee nominee. She is ranked No. 44 nationally by ESPN Hoopgurlz.

Previous winners of the award include Scullion's future teammate at Ohio State Jantel Lavender, ex-WNBA star Lisa Leslie and current WNBA star Candace Parker.

"I have some big shoes to fill," Scullion said. "It's amazing to look at the people that have won this before me, and I just hope to be able to live up to those expectations."

Is it still onTV? I can't find it. I saw the beginning while out eating lunch, but it's not on TV at home.
