Got any names that OSU is recruiting for the upcoming class?
That info is some where in this thread and when I get more time I might look it up:) However, I will tell you that Foster missed out on 2 McDonald's All Americans from Ohio. Perhaps, they just weren't his type of recruits:(

Yep - missed out: one player they liked alot but has grade issues and the other was a UConn commit just about from the cradle.

Recruits for 2010 class:
Amy Scullion 6'0" W Salem OH - Ranked 44 overall by Hoopgurlz, #9 Wing, scout's grade of 95; Blue Star has her at #64; she's a national team caliber volleyball player and did not play as much on the summer circuit as most top ranked girls did
Martina Ellerbe 6'2" F Teaneck NJ - #22 Forward, scout's grade 93
Ashley Adams 6'4" P Siloam Springs AR - #17 Center scout's grade 92
Darryce Moore 6'2" F Youngstown OH - #36 Forward scout's grade 89

Foster looked for frontcourt players after a few classes that were guard heavy. In addition to the above, Brianna Sanders (redshirt) will be able to play next year. This is probably the lowest rated class Foster has had in awhile but that's partly because Scullion (by most accounts) would be rated higher if she had been seen more and, except for the obvious superstars, PFs and Cs are normally harder to rate and evaluate than guards. As with every class, we'll have to see how accurate the ranking services are on the court next year.

2011 class: one verbal, Maleeka Kynard 5'7" PG Toledo OH
Tiffane Hicks 5'10" G Detroit MI is listed as "considering" but that info usually comes from the player and may not reflect the coaching staff's views. At any rate, even the rumors don't really start to pick up until summer. Rankings and grades for underclassmen will change often, so we'll have to see where they finally land on the big lists.

Perspective: Here how scouts inc. (the grading service) explains their grades -

94-97: High-major prospect Player has the potential to significantly contribute as a freshman for most national programs and should make an immediate impact. She could be a three- or four-year starter and have an opportunity for all-league honors.

90-93: High-major minus prospect Player has the potential to significantly contribute to a national program as a freshman. She could be a four-year contributor with an opportunity to start over the course of her career.

87-89: Mid-major minus prospect Player could contribute for three or four years at a high-major program or have a significant impact as a freshman at a mid-major program.

For comparison: Sammy's grade was 93 coming out of HS, Tayler a 96 and Emilee a 93

Lady Buckeyes up by 5 at halftime. Not much flow to this game, struggling to stop Wurtz in the paint. Buckeyes not reversing the ball and taking quick shots again, other times failing to get shots off before shot clock runs out. Radio just said they would like to see more ball movement on offense, missing open perimeter players for open shots. Still get the feel the ladies are going to blow it open once the second half starts. Lets go ladies!

+1 Nutzball

I don't really think the offense was all that bad tonight - they got plenty of people involved, got out in transition some, moved the ball well - and scored 83 points on a team whose defensive average is in the 50s.

The defense was not as good as it has been the past few games. Part of the explanation for giving up 78 is the pace of the game (sometimes quick shots, as long as they're good looks, play a purpose in the overall game strategy), but they gave up too much penetration and because of help rotations - 12 offensive rebounds, many of which were converted. Wisconsin played well and hung tough all night, making plays when they had to and never letting OSU get out by more than 10. Wurtz (a big guard) was a matchup problem most of the night and Karel played a great game, many of her baskets were heavily contested.

Clutch free throws down the stretch (Sammy 4-4 and Brittany 3-4) a big steal by Brittany and a great challenge/defensive board by Jantel at the end sealed it. Chevy played well as usual on d and probably should have had crredit for 2 or 3 more steals than the 2 they gave her (I thought Wisconsin's stat crew was very stingy all across the board).

Stats:
Sammy 25 pts on 8-11 and 8-8 from the line, 5 assists (+3 or 4) and 6 turnovers - but I don't think that's a truly accurate line; Jantel a double-double with 23 pts and 12 boards; Brittany another really good game with 15 pts and a pretty solid defensive effort; Tayler 9 pts and showed smarts, aggressiveness and great game awareness; Sarah 6 pts and stayed aggressive all game; Amber another solid effort with 3 including a steal and a coast to coast layup at the end of the first half; Chevy with 2 and her usual great d. Andrea and Maria played but did not score. :osu:

By my count, Sammy is sitting at 47 straight free throws now. Last time she missed was January 21 against Michigan.

Yep.

Ozone

For the evening, Prahalis was 8-8 from the foul line, extending her streak of consecutive free throws made to 47, which broke the school record of 40 by Katie Smith.

Cont'd ...

In OT on ESPN2 against Sparty. They were down double-digits, then had a big rally to take the lead late. Sammy split a pair of FTs with about 21 seconds left, putting them up 2, Sparty hit a tough J to tie it with 6.1 seconds left.

Sammy went coast-to-coast and a tough runner went off the rim. Shulze rushed a follow that rolled off the rim at the buzzer.

Sammy's streak was at 47 FTs coming in, but she's only 3 of 7 from the line today.

Down 4 in OT with under 30 seconds left. Sparty has banked in two jump shots from the top of the FT line in OT. :shake:

Sammy is 4 of 11 from the line. Sometimes it's not your day.

Sparty misses a FT and Sammy hits a 3 with 16 seconds left to bring them within 1.

Man, oh man. The defense just disappeared down the stretch. easy layups, wide open jumpers for Sparty. Still have a shot, but jeesh....22 some odd turnovers and a ton of missed free throws.
