Michigan Wolverines Football: TheWolverine.com

8/13

Bryce McNeal has decommitted from Michigan.

Bryce was their best WR verbal by far, with offers from FL, Cal and pursued by others. A prototypical WR, not a slot-dot like they have in bunches. Cue the "scared off by '10 verbals" talk.

RE: TOS reporting McNeal back on the market...
I still want you Bryce. Don't listen to them. You are going to be a FREAK WR under Barwis. We will right this ship and you will win a National Championship if you stick with us.

Yes Bryce, look at the wonders Barwis has done with Stonum, Matthews and Clemons already!

Has scUM found their new Bike Hart?...

You laugh, but you can't argue the production of the Barwis/Rodriguez scheme. I mean, they've churned out ... uh ... um ... Chris Henry, and everybody knows he's certainly a fucking freak.

The truly funny thing if this DickRod to Clemson thing actually happens, is all the marmot fans will say they never liked him, and they're glad he's gone, but they'll cry like little bitches over losing Barwis. We need to find a new rival.

Never EVER gonna fucking happen, too much history, too much hate, whether they suck or are good, tsun is our rival.

Then they need to hold up their end of the bargain. Granted, we haven't even played the "new" Michigan yet, but they've already become the joke of the Big Ten. Unless there's a major turnaround in the next 3-4 years, The Game will have virtually no meaning. I don't think DickRod is capable of producing anything but a WV style "high school HD" level team, which will not cut it in the B10. He's having a hard time holding on to players and recruits as it is. As bad a job as RR is doing in AA, if he jumps ship now, it will set their program back another few years. The rivalry was built on the traditions of greatness, it can survive a down year here and there, but unless UM gets their shit together soon, The Game will be just another reason for people to bitch about OSU's weak schedule.

Fuck other people. I want their fucking head on a stick so I can parade it around campus. I don't give a fuck if they are 0-11 for fifteen fucking years. They sucked for twenty years before they stole Bo, so they can suck for ten years until they can wrangle another tOSU assistant to bring them back to realavancy. In the meantime, we fucking eat their souls every November, and laugh in their faces every other waking moment. FUCK THOSE FUCKS.

The 90's did nothing to diminish the rivalry, Oklahoma and Texas had many lean years in the 90's, Alabama and Auburn have had lean years...big time rivalries are resilient.

More detail on McNeal's decommitment

GopherHole.com - Breck WR Bryce McNeal de-commits from Michigan

A lot of things have changed since last May when Bryce McNeal committed to the University of Michigan: The economy, gas prices, the stock market, presidential candidates, and Bryce McNeal himself. The stand-out wide receiver from Breck High School called GopherHole to let Gopher Nation know that he contacted Wolverine wide receiver coach Tony Dews tonight to officially de-commit from Michigan. This is a first in a two part interview with McNeal, where he tells GopherHole why he decided to open up his options again. Part two of the interview will be posted later this week and will include what his thoughts are on his other top four schools, Minnesota, Florida, Colorado, and California, and what his next steps will be.

BM: I de-committed from Michigan tonight.

GH: You did?
BM: Yes, I knew I was going to do it, and I wanted to make sure you got it first.

GH: Have you told the coaches?
BM: Yes, I talked to Coach Dews, the wide receivers coach tonight.

GH: Why did you de-commit?
BM: I just feel that I ended the (recruiting) process early and there are other schools out there that I didn’t give a chance to. After taking all of my visits, I’ll need to write down the pros and cons of each school and find which one fits me best as a person, and as an athlete. I just feel like I really did give other schools a chance when I committed early.

GH: Has your relationship with Coach Rodriguez change at all?
BM: No, my relationships with Coach Rodriguez and Coach Dews are the same as when they started to recruit me, I don’t have any different views of them, and I hope they don’t have any different views of me.

GH: So they didn’t recruit over you or anything like that?
BM: No, not at all.

GH: Is Michigan still going to be one of the schools you are considering?
BM: I am still interested in Michigan and am keeping them in the mix, I just am not committed to them anymore. They are still in my top 5 schools.

GH: Has their performance this year affected your decision? Obviously losing to Toledo this week was not one of their high points.
BM: No, not really. I kind of figured they would have a down season, but that’s not something that really went into my decision making process when I de-committed. It doesn’t really have anything to do with their wins or losses, just more me as a person.

GH: Have you gotten a lot of heat since you started wavering in your commitment?
BM: Not really. The only people that I’ve really taken heat from are random people on the street, like people posting things on my Facebook and my Myspace. They don’t know what goes on in my life. I’m doing what I have to do for me, they’re just on the outside looking in, they can say what they want.

GH: What will make people believe, when you commit going forward, that you won’t change your mind again?
BM: Hopefully because I’m an upfront person. For one thing, I’m taking my time, I’m not going to commit to anyone anytime soon. I’m going to take all my visits, and I’m probably going to wait until January to commit, or let them know right before signing day what school I’m going to be attending. It’s going to be impossible for me to back out.

GH: When you and I spoke last April about committing to Michigan, off the record, you told me you were always planning on taking your visits. Is this something you were upfront with Michigan about?
BM: At first I thought I would not take them, then I felt that I really needed to and I brought it back up. It didn’t cause conflict, it just caused a lot of questioning. I kind of felt like there were some gaps missing, and I had to fill them.

Sorry kid, this isn't going to be nice and you probably didn't like me to begin with, but I am going to make it worse....

Bargain? What bargain? They beat us a lot and made fun of us, they never said "when you guys are on the comeback, we're going to be great" it doesn't matter how tsun is, the are fucking michigan and I hope they burn in hell.

At the end of the day, if they are 11-0, or 0-11 I will enjoy the victory all the same, fuck michigan.

What the fuck are you smoking? 100+ years of history doesn't get washed away. It's people who somehow think if one team doesn't stand a chance it doesn't matter... so since Cooper sucked against Michigan we can go ahead and wipe away 10 of our losses? Fuck no, every tsun fan around will remind us of one thing "10-2-1" while John Cooper was our head coach. They aren't going to say "well, the rivalry lost a lot of meaning because Cooper didn't realize how important it was" No, they are saying "fuck you guys, you sucked, we owned you bitches!"

I don't think DickRod is capable of producing anything but a WV style "high school HD" level team, which will not cut it in the B10. I don't give a fuck what RR produces, if he does what he's done so far all it shows is what that school will do to beat us. They will sell their souls to the devil for the chance, we did what we do, we brought in Ohio guys, we didn't sell our souls, and look at where we are.

None of this takes anything away, if anything, it balances the scales, they should have learned by now, if they can't grab a coach from OHIO or a true "Michigan Man" then they get what they deserve.

FUCK MICHIGAN!

let me say this again....

FUCK MICHIGAN!

Dudes, relax! I wasn't even close to serious about the new rival thing. If anything, I was talking shit to get the scUMmers riled up. But hey, it got an interesting discussion started!

I did mean what I said about UM getting their shit together to preserve the importance of The Game. I believe that the rivalry was a big factor in making OSU the program that it is today. Before OSU made it's name, UM was top dog in the B10. If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Gordie Howe became the best player in NHL history because he played Maurice Richard 10 times a year. Muhammad Ali became legendary because of the Liston and Frazier bouts. While it's true that there have been previous peroids of domination by one team, the rivalry was not diminished because the level of competion was constant, for the most part. Cooper's record belies the fact that many of those losses were by some of the best teams in OSU history. Likewise, OSU's domination in the mid 70's obscures the fact that UM had strong teams every year. I suspect that the rivalries that NF spoke of were much the same, although I don't know their histories. What we are looking at now is a 7 year stretch where OSU has dominated, and instead of UM moving toward being competitive, they are at their lowest point in 40 years. Barring a complete meltdown by Wisky, UM looks like it would have a losing record in just about any conference. Unless they do a 180 in the near future, The Game (football wise) will become just another walkthru against a Big Ten cellar dweller. Sure, there will be the hatred and the memories of the great games of the past, but unless the competition is there, it will merely be nostalgia. Beating those fuckers will always feel good, but personally, I'd like to rip their hearts out and stomp on the dreams of a great season. You just can't do that if they're out of the race by mid-October.
