The more I think about it, I predict Henton. Todd just seemed to lose a lot of confidence in himself and the players around him towards the end of the year. I'll agree not to count The Game because the weather was absolute crap and Henne didn't do any better (even compared to his standards). I think Todd has all the ability to be a great QB here but if he doesn't regain composure in the off-season, I could definetly see Henton getting the spot. It sounded as if the coaches were impressed with Henton towards the end of the year and he has all the tools. He is a very good runner and has great throwing ability, he just needs to get the game down mentally and he could be a great one here. I think these two are the only ones that will be in serious contention to start next year.
I think in no way Terrelle Pryor will start in '08 and I think in no way do we keep TP off the field in '08. Regardless of who starts, TP is so explosive with the ball in his hands that there is no way he doesn't get some decent playing time. He has a ways to go in his technique and though he progressed a bit from his junior year, I don't see him getting the college game down quick enough to start next year. He has good enough passing ability to take the other team by surprise and throw it every now and then ala Tebow, but I just don't see him being a consistent passer yet. I think he will be eventually though. I will say that I fantasized Pryor in on our last drive and alluding defenders when Boeckman was being sacked.
Regardless of who our starter is in '08, they are going to have serious talent around them and I think they will be successful. I think either of Boeckman and Henton can get it done on a consistent basis and TP will provide a dynamic playmaker that can change the course of a game any time he is in, which is something Boeckman lacks imo. I am very confident with the talent we are going to have in '08 at the quarterback position.
Edit: Grad also makes a great point...Beanie is an I formation type of guy, which I think is another reason either Boeckman or Henton starts. I think Henton could play in that type of offense and still be an effective runner, but there will definetly be a wrinkle in the '08 offense for a dual-threat QB regardless imo, which could include:
QB: Henton, Pryor
HB: MoWells, Saine, Thomas
-As far as our main offense we run, I think there is no way we get away from the offense we ran this year with Beanie in the I. He is our playmaker and isn't suited in a spread/shotgun attack, but he will need breaks and that's when we pull the switcheroo.
