2008 tOSU Offensive Line discussion (official thread)

File under.....Good News, Bad News:

Marcus Hall; "The offense struggled a little, mainly the offensive line. It looks like the opportunity to play is there. After the performance [Saturday night] and seeing how many seniors [on the line] are leaving, that thought was in my head."

If Ohio State has 3 OL's that will start in the NFL it should be able to control the line scrimmage and run the ball effectively?

True or False?

True ,if we have 3 players that could make it to the NFL. Barton was the best linemen we had last year and he's having problems in the NFL so , whats that say about what we have now.

This ain't the Paterno thread...
Come on Mili, that's just his reaction to Beanie getting tackled five yards in the backfield. That just shouldn't happen and I don't know about you, but I needed some of those bad boys after seeing that happen.

I dunno I really do have hope in the line themselves, but I just wonder what has to happen to make them play mean. I do hope it happens because there is no doubt the size, speed, and talent is there, but it's just that attitude that I hope these guys can get in the last three games and the bowl game.

Didn't the 2002 line struggle with blocking too? Mangold, Stepanovic, Olivia all made it and started in the NFL, but I seem to remember that line not playing up to it's potential.

that team had Sims,Clarke and Hartsock a great blocking TE.
So 5 out of the 6 ,still playing or injured for the season. Clarke was cut

The talent has ALWAYS been there with OSU's offensive line. I've never really spoken much about the coaches but Bollman needs to go IMO. Just for the fact that he has one job, and he's not getting the job done.

But at the same time the play calling has to be more diverse if it wants to give our line any hope. If teams know where the play is going before they line up then it's sorta hard for the lineman to do a good job blocking. The thing is though most of our offensive lineman are atleast playing in the NFL which to me points that the coaching is not there. Let Coach Peterson take over..... This'll never happen of course due to the way too loyal coach tress...

Complacency (spelling??) IMO is settling most of all with the coaches, namely on offense.

I agree that our O-line isn't what it should be, and hasn't been in a while. But, I dont think Tressel will ever let Bollman go. They are very good friends, and have been coaching together for quite some time. It will be hard for Tressel to find someone that he's comfortable with enough to replace him. I dont think thats gonna happen.

I watched the PSU game again today and just got pissed off to all hell at the way the O-line played. We do have a freshman at center I do realize that, but I was just amazed.......... I'm not commenting anymore because it wont be nice. We should be better than we are.

Boone and Person led last years team in penalties. This year it's a race between Boone,Person and Browning. Now thats talent

hey, I'm a Brown's fan, so I'm used to seeing 10 or 15 O-line penalties per game. :( So I guess the amount of penalties we get at tOSU doesn't seem like alot to me!

if that were true, it would be very unsettling. you can't let friendship get in the way of business.
