2008 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

Does anyone know if any of those guys on the list are K/P like Ben, or if they are all strictly K? I know the list is a ranking of kickers only, but it would be nice to know if Ohio State is getting a more versatile player than any of the other schools
Why? We're getting Ben Buchanon. None of the lists change anything about him.

I spent part of today doing something I never thought I would do...watching film of 8 different HS kickers. And what have I learned? It is nearly impossible to tell one from the other except for their uniforms. At the end of the day, I only know one thing about the HS senior kicker/punter pool this year...I wouldn't trade Ben for anyone. As far as I am concerned, Ben is good enough for JT (who places more emphasis on kicking than almomst any coach in America) so as far as I am concerned, case closed.

I can't believe Shugarts is that low...does the Texas site do those rankings, or Rivals overall?

I believe it is Rivals.com...not TexasPrepXtra or OrangeBloods.

I'm sure several UM fans will be complaining about McGuffie being ranked that low.

Texas has a lot of quality players this year... JB is the #2 OL in the state... Not too shabby...
Rivals has McGuffie about right IMO... I really think he's a product of hype...

Not really sure you can say that; He is very hyped, yes. But I think that that hype has worked against his favor because now people will want to cut him down to add to their site's credibility. Counter-intuitive, but it's just like how "serious" movie critics will want to denounce hyped movies to show that they are unaffected by outside opinions.

His numbers SERIOUSLY don't lie. He's not just a scat back, he is a workhorse of the team and scores at will. Yes, he had an amazing O-line, but what he does in the open field is incredible.

As for his attitude being grating to some people; well, I have to agree. I mean honestly, who calls himself the Matrix and jumps over cars and posts the videos?

But he's not just a product of the hype.

That sounds familiar...
But he's not just a product of the hype.
Well the hype has to be sourced in something, or it would die out quickly. That doesn't mean the hype is not somewhat overstated.

As for being the product of hype, how many people that follow recruiting can truly judge where McGuffie ranks nationally? How many can give an well-educated top-10 at the RB position? I fall into that category as well.

His hurdling & shifting desire for '____ to offer' has made him a household name. I'd imagine a casual fan knows much more about McGuffie than Justin Johnson.
