2008 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

Rivals250 Region breakdown
1. Southeast83 2. West49 3. Heartland43 4. Midwest32 5. East22 6. Mid-Atlantic21

this table says it all...southern/cali bias? Methinks it exists. This table should read: screw the midwest 250 region breakdown.

How you can have such talent rich states as Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Illinois/Chicago shorthanded off this list is beyond me.

The Southeast bias is so off the charts I am not going to even comment. The one that boggles my mind is the "Heartland" region, which obviously encompasses Texas. Look at their traditional powers, outside of the Longhorns who usually sign all but one or two kids from in-state. Nebraska has offered 4 kids in-state. They've offered 9 kids from Ohio. Oklahoma has offered 3 kids in-state and at least 5 kids in Ohio. Iowa has offered 2 kids in-state (including Ferentz's son) and at least 5 kids in Ohio. And yet the Midlands has more players in the Rivals250 than the Midwest.

Crabtree at least mentions that Ohio had 18 players selected in this year's NFL Draft...

By Crabtree...preview of the updated Rivals250. 13 players from Ohio will be on the list. The rankings will be up at noon tomorrow.

We already know these 8 are on the top 100 list:

#22 Kyle Rudolph
#31 Devoe Torrence
#39 Devier Posey
#50 Brandon Beachum
#53 Brandon Moore
#91 Jake Stoneburner
#94 Cordale Scott
#98 Mike Adams

Nathan Williams, Zebrie Sanders and Johnny Adams were on the original Rivals250 so I imagine they will be three of the other five. If I had to think like a Rivals person for second I would imagine the other two will come from DiLillo, Koger, Zordich, McCarthy or Hill.
I believe it will be Sanders, Mealer, McCarthy, Shaw and either Williams or Koger. They said the 5 players are 2 OL, 1 S, 1 RB and 1 DE. Sanders and Shaw are considered near misses for the Top 100 list.

I agree they have a DB out of Texas ranked ahead of Cissoko. They are both the same height 5'9, but this guy is 10 pounds lighter what is the deal?

1.) Uh, Texas isn't in the Southeast.

2.) So what if the other kid is 10 pounds lighter than Cissoko? Does that automatically make him a lesser player?

Nice to see all our non-special teams recruits to make the list.

Do they ever have kickers/punters as four stars, or is it common practice to just leave them as three stars?

Anyways, congrats to all our players.

I'll admit I was surprised to see Williams on there. I figured there was no way Rivals would give him that ranking(and it's not because of his talent).

I went back until 2003, and rivals never ranked a single kicker about a 5.5 3*. To be a 4* on rivals, you must get a 5.8 rating. So, it's really not even close.

I think Rivals rankings this year are a joke. I normally think their rankings are more accurate(even if there is an anti-northern bias to them), but this year they're atrocious.

My feelings as well...Rivals has been much more consistent in the past than Scout, but this year Rivals has completely missed the boat on some kids...and not just OSU commits/targets. I'm talking nationwide.
